Car needs oil pressure or bearings will wear out in short time. Do not drive or start engine with this light on. Might only be pressure sending unit. Can replace sending unit and start briefly to see if problem resolves. If light still stays on, shut off engine and have oil pump replaced.
my car is having the same problems, its a 2005, lot of miles. warrning only comes on for a second or two. oil level is perfect. if you have any more infor email me at [email protected]
Tim, when does the light come on? Mostly at idle when the engine is warm/hot? Most likely the oil pump is worn and a slow speeds, can't pump enough oil to maintain pressure. Have a compression test run, to evaluate if you need an engine rebuild, or if maybe you could just replace the pump. If your mileage is above 100,000 miles, odds are the engine is nearly worn out anyway. You will have to decide how much money it is worth spending on this car. If it is generally in good condition, it might be worth it.
Also, if you have a belt-driven camshaft, you should replace that belt, usually at 60,000 miles, otherwise you can do serious damage to the engine if it breaks.

My car is a 2001 vw passat and it does that to after driving about 30miles it will flash stop egingine something oil pressure and then when I stop my car it dies and I have to wait like 30mins and it will start back up and run just fine no worning no nothing
SOURCE: oil pressure low stop enging
Get the oil level checked, also it can be issue with clogged oil pump or faulty oil pump.
Do ignore the indication, before it get worse.

When does this come on? When does it go out?
Have you checked the oil level? How many miles on the motor?
This means that the oil pressure sensor is showing that the motor oil pressure is too low to continue safely operating the engine. If it only comes on for a second or two, then goes out, you can safely drive the car to a mechanic to have it checked. If it stays on for more than a few seconds, you need to park the car as soon as safely possible and shut it off, lest you seize the engine beyond repair.
It is possible that it is just a bad sensor, but I would not bet my engine on it. Answer my questions above, and I can give you some better guidance.
