Failed inspection because when I pull the parking brake-the brake warning light on the dash does not come on. I replacedthe switch and it still won't come on. All fuses good.

That light is also tied in with the parking brake, with the key and light on pull up on parking brake pedal to see if light will go off, assuming you have a good brake pedal & not a mushy feel then it's doing it's job telling you have a hydraulic issue in the system. The switch for the parking brake is mounted on the mechanism and a single wire to it,works off a cam with pedal pushed down switch grounds the circuit.
Get down and look at parking brake assembly, If you see an electrical connector, unplug it, see if that helps? If it doesn't help or causes other issues just plug it back in.
Of course that isn't the proper fix. If something wrong with parking brake assembly, get it checked out.
Please also note that the low fluid level sensor in your brake master cylinder will also make this light come on. If the brake fluid is low in the master cylinder, you need to find out WHY! There is either an hydraulic leak in the system or the disc brake pads are worn VERY thin. Then again, the low fluid level sensor could be faulty.
There is also a difference in brake systems available in your vehicle. If you do not have a fluid level switch in you master cylinder, there will be a pressure differential switch mounted between the fluid lines just below the antilock brake module. If this switch is causing the brake light to come on, it is usually because of a fluid leak somewhere in the system. If the hydraulic pressure on one dide of the switch or the other drops for some reason, it will cause the piston in the switch to shift to the side and turn the switch on. Again, you vehicle may be equipped with one or the other - you simply have to look.
To find out if it is the low fluid level switch, the pressure differential switch` or the parking brake switch, just unplug each of the switches to see if the light goes out.
If it actually is the parking brake switch, it is usually because the parking brake lever assembly is malfunctioning or you may have a stuck forward cable that is not allowing the pedal to return to the full UP position. Parking brake lever/pedal assembly failures are pretty common. I have changed quite a few of them.
are you talking about the light which warns you that the parking brake is on? if it is the parking brake, that light is turned on by a switch operated by the lever or pedal you push on or pull to set the brake. find that switch and replace it. it will be in the console with a pull lever type handle, or under the dash for a push pedal type parking brake.
the other brake light monitors the integrity of the brake system, it is also operated by a switch which screws into the system. i would check near the master cylinder.
ello: First grab hold of the park brake pedal and pull it towards you, then open hood and visually make sure brake reservoir is full to the line, if either of the previous does not correct then you may have a failed park brake switch. Park brake switch is mounted on the park brake pedal assembly. If failed you should beable to unplug it and the light and buzzer should go off.
Yes it is true. and the light is there as a reminder so when you jump in the car you do not drive away with the park brake on. The park light switch needs to be replaced.Good Luck and have a good XMASS.
"Brake system warning light: To confirm the brake system warning light is functional, it will momentarily illuminate when the ignition is turned to the ON position when the engine is not running, or in a position between ON and START, or by applying the parking brake when the ignition is turned to the ON position. If the brake system warning light does not illuminate at this time, seek service immediately from your dealership. Illumination after releasing the parking brake indicates low brake fluid level and the brake system should be inspected immediately by your servicing dealership."
In short, as your brake linings (pads and shoes) wear out, the brake fluid level in the reservoir goes down.
You're probably right at the point where the level gets low enough to turn on the warning only under specific circumstances (cornering? hard braking?).
You can top off the fluid for the short term, but you should have your brakes inspected fairly soon.
The Parking brake light can be set on if the cable to the brake has become loose, or if it stuck on. Check first to make sure the parking brake pedal is released fully, sometimes it will need to be manually pulled back as the tension becomes les on the cable. The drivers dooradjar light is telling you that most likely the door switch on the front dash panel on the door jamb is not functioning, replacing the switch should certainly turn the light off.
