My wife's Honda CR-V has the "Check Engine" light come on every 7,500 miles telling you to get the oil changed. (It has no way of telling if it's been done or not.)

No, this is a power steering issue. Are you certain the power steering fluid level is correct? The squeeling noise is caused by air in the power steering pump. The leak must be repaiored, usually by replacing the pump, unless it is just a leak in the reservoir.

Your vehicles computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with one or more of the components it stores the corresponding trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the "Check Engine" light to tell you that there is a problem and your car needs to be looked at. To properly diagnose what is wrong, you need to take your car to a mechanic or a dealer. The technician at the dealership or a garage will then hook up the scanner to the car computer and retrieve the stored trouble code(s). Then he (she) will look it up in the service manual provided by a car manufacturer. The service manual contains the list of possible codes (about few hundreds) and describes what each code means and what needs to be tested. The code itself doesn't tell exactly what component is defective - it only indicates where to look, what engine parameter is out of normal range. The technician will have to perform further testing to pinpoint a defective part.

not to many local independent repair shop will have the right equipment to test or do correct diagnostic. same way if you have bone problems, you want to go see the bone specialist not an eye doctors, Engine service light could mean one or many things, I would recommend take it to Toyota Dealer and have them do proper diagnostic, Will cost you 70 to 85 bucks, its lot cheaper than guessing and buying parts and hope that will be the right one. Once they do diagnostic they will tell you what it need and you can do the work replacing the part your self. good luck

Hi, this light is signaling an issue the concerns the state of a failed sensor or electrical component. I recommend taking this vehicle to a dealership or local mechanic as soon as possible for a diagnostic run on the ecm. this diagnostic scan will tell you and your mechanic what the specific issue is and, how to fix it.

In most cases, it will be a failed sensor or a failed sensor wire/housing.

owners manuals are available at dealer only . manual would not tell you why light is on . will have to plug scanner in to car to tell what is wrong .

take car to autozone have them pull codes . they tell what wrong with car and untill they are all fixed the will stay on it can be reset ,but like isay it must be fixed first to stay off.check with dealer for book. later
