I have a 1987 300zx turbo. i was driving about 30mph and it started to stall. then it picked back up then died out. and would not crank back up. the next day it cranked up fine and drove about 2 blocks then died again and will not crank. i found out there was no spark from the coil so i replaced it but still nothing. i've checked all fuses, fusable links and relays

It's your crank angle sensor which is in the distributor. You must replace the distributor. The other things people mentioned are possible but not likely. When the engine suddenly dies and then restarts (sometimes restarting itself after a few seconds) it is the crank angle sensor failing. A common symptom is that the tach stops working momentarily but you aren't even sure the engine quit because it happens so fast and suddenly the tach works again.

It's possible the fuel filter is clogged up. If it has been a while since you changed the fuel filter, it may need to be changed. It is either located in the tank or between the tank and carbeurator. You may also have gotten bad gas or water in the gas. Check this also.

If not cranking with new battery, it is possible you were low on oil and the motor has seized.

Should you be able to hear the turbine whine on a 6.5 turbo, and can you adjust the turbo?

you can here it,,,just,,,,but you will fell it more,,try going into top gear at say 30mph hold your foot hard down and keep it hard down wate till the engine revs up to about 2000rpm and if the turbo is working right at about 2000rpm the car will pick up its feet and start flying like a home sick angel
my advice is leave the turbo boost be,,you will only use more fule up and start blowing off pipes or split the intercooler,,,,and thats pricy
