P0171 means that an oxygen sensor in bank 1 detected a lean condition meaning there is to much oxygen in the exhaust. Bank 1 is the front side of
the engine. There's other things that can trigger that p0171 code like the MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor which could be dirty or faulty. There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor.
Before you try to replace that MAF sensor, take it off and clean it which a Brake cleaner. Try not to damage the sensor and make sure to clean it dry before putting it back in. The MAF sensor is located on the throttle body. It looks like this (They are small and expensive, try cleaning it first before buying a brand new one, not a remade [the cheaper one]):
Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace if they look bad. Check for a dirty fuel filter and proper fuel pressure then it should be back up and running good.
