Ha, you tried to fool me with the bit about a 3.5 L motor--I could find that one...here is the complete procedure from AutoZone.com:

Installation To install:

  1. Clean the gasket mounting surfaces. Be sure to inspect the manifold for warpage and/or cracks. If necessary, replace it.
  2. Position the gaskets on the cylinder head with the port blocking plates to the rear and the This Side Up stamps facing upward. Then apply a 3 / 16 in. (5mm) bead of RTV sealant on the front and rear of the engine block at the block-to-manifold mating surface. Extend the bead 1 / 2 in. (13mm) up each cylinder head to seal and retain the gaskets.

  3. Install the lower intake manifold. Tighten the bolts in sequence and in 3 steps, as follows:

    1. Step 1: 26 inch lbs. (3 Nm).
    2. Step 2: 106 inch lbs. (12 Nm).
    3. Step 3: 133 inch. lbs. (15 Nm).

  4. Install or connect the following:

Power steering pump Alternator bracket bolt near the thermostat housing Wiring harness to the lower manifold components, including the injector, EGR valve and ECT sensor Air conditioning compressor bracket-to-the lower intake manifold pencil braces
  5. Install transmission oil dipstick tube, if necessary.

Fuel supply and return lines to the rear of the lower intake
  6. Temporarily reattach the negative battery cable, then pressurize the fuel system (by cycling the ignition without starting the engine) and check for leaks.
  7. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  8. Install or connect the following:

Heater hose to the lower intake Upper radiator hose to the thermostat housing Distributor assembly and engage the wiring Ignition coil Connect vacuum hoses to the upper and lower intake manifold. New upper intake manifold gasket, making sure the green sealing lines are facing upward Upper intake manifold Manifold retainers. Tighten them to 88 inch lbs. (10 Nm) using two passes. Purge solenoid and bracket Brake booster vacuum hose at the upper intake manifold PCV hose to the rear of the upper intake manifold Vacuum hoses to both the front and rear of the manifold assembly Throttle body Throttle linkage to the upper intake Wiring to the upper intake components including the TP sensor, IAC motor, MAP sensor and the fuel meter Engine cover Air intake assembly
  9. Connect negative battery cable.
  10. Refill the engine cooling system.
  11. Start the engine and check for leaks.

07 chrysler twc 3.8 upper intake tightening sequence

I found a forum post on Jeep Enthusiast Forums that provides the tightening sequence for the 3.8L upper intake plenum of a 2007 Chrysler TWC. Here are the steps:

Remove covering on lower intake manifold and clean surfaces.
Inspect manifold gasket condition. Gaskets can be re-used, if not damaged. Position new gasket in seal channel and press lightly in-place. Repeat procedure for each gasket position.
Position upper manifold on lower manifold.

Apply Mopar® Lock & Seal Adhesive (Medium Strength Threadlocker) to each upper intake manifold bolt.
Install and tighten bolts to 12 N·m (105 in. lbs.) using torque sequence.

Here is the torque sequence for the 3.8L upper intake plenum:

6 2 4
5 1 3

Please note that this information is provided as-is and I recommend consulting a professional mechanic for any further assistance.

2014 Chevy Spark intake manifold torque sequence and torque specs

The 2014 Chevy Spark intake manifold torque sequence and torque specs depend on the engine type. Here are the torque specs and sequence for each engine type:
1.0L Engine:
  • Step 1: Tighten the bolts to 44 inch-pounds (5 Nm).
  • Step 2: Tighten the bolts to 89 inch-pounds (10 Nm).
  • Step 3: Tighten the bolts to 18 lb-ft (25 Nm).
Torque sequence: 8 4 1 5 9 7 3 2 6 10
1.2L Engine:
  • Step 1: Tighten the bolts to 44 inch-pounds (5 Nm).
  • Step 2: Tighten the bolts to 89 inch-pounds (10 Nm).
  • Step 3: Tighten the bolts to 18 lb-ft (25 Nm).
Torque sequence: 8 4 1 5 9 7 3 2 6 10
It's important to follow the torque sequence and torque specs carefully to ensure that the intake manifold is properly secured and sealed. Over-tightening or under-tightening the bolts can cause leaks or damage to the engine.

What do the intake manifold bolts for a 2002 Chevy Malibu with a 3.1L need to be torqued to?

Pretend the picture is lower intake manifold, that is the tightening sequence.
1st step 5 ft lbs
2nd step bolts 1--4 9.6 ft lbs
3rd step bolts 5--8 18 ft lbs
The upper intake manifold use about the same sequence tighten to 18 ft lbs.
If you don't like ft lbs use inch lbs.
If the upper intake manifold is plastic, be careful with that.

The proper way to install intake manifold

You should use a light duty Torque wrench and use a sequence that usually starts in a middle bolt location and alternates side to side and works from middle holes to extreme ends. I have not tried a Web search but you could try a search that would say something like "1996 Mercury 4.6L intake manifold tightening sequence"

Toquer on the intake

start in the center working in an expanding square pattern crossing over the manifold on the first 2 bolts. tighten in 3 steps. these are low torque fasteners, don't over tighten & use locktite.
If reusing the fasteners, apply threadlock GM P/N 12345382 or equivalent to the threads of the lower intake manifold bolts.
Install the lower intake manifold bolts.

Notice: Proper lower intake manifold fastener tightening sequence and torque is critical. Always follow the tightening sequence, and torque the intake manifold bolts using the 3 step method. Failing to do so may distort the crankshaft bearing bore alignment and cause damage to the crankshaft bearings.

Tighten the lower intake manifold bolts.

from front of engine tighten 2 bolt back left side, then 3rd bolt back right side, then 3 bolt back left side, then 2nd bolt back right side, then back bolt left side, back bolt right side, then front bolt left side, then front bolt right side

Tighten the bolts on the first pass in sequence (1-8) to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
Tighten the bolts on the second pass in sequence (1-8) to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
Tighten the bolts on the final pass in sequence (1-8) to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
