I have a 1988 Mazda 626 turbo edition. just recently i was driving along when i took my foot off of the gas to go around a turn and when i tried to accelerate again and the rpm's just went up to about 3,000 and the car would not move as if it is in neutral. i then put it in park shut it off waited about 10 seconds started it again put it in drive, it drove about another mile or 2 then did the same thing, what could be wrong?

It sounds as if the transmission might be slipping. Check the fluid level and condition. If the color is not a strong red color and more of a brown or black color, then you will need to replace the transmission. A fluid change at this point will not help you. good luck!

Mazda 626 2.2L Turbo 1989 - Alternator - Fuel Pump

Hi am just up the road on the SSC, it is easier to remove the alternator from underneath the vehicle & if you look under the carpet under the rear seat there is a plate which gives you access to the fuel pump cover in the tank. The pump can be accessed from there. If you want the workshop Manuals I have just uploaded them.
You can download the GD 626 Workshop manual & the Turbo supplement by going to the 626.net site.
