Hiya,
The fuelpump is located in the fueltank and is accessible by removing the rear seat squab. Under the squab is a service panel that will have a few screws holding it down. remove the panel and instead of removing the pump try giving it a firm rap with a hammer handle or piece of solid wood taking care not to damage the wiring or fuel lines exiting the top of the pump assembly. This may be enough to get the pump to work again.

1997 mazda 626 won't start.

Are the plugs wet with fuel?
Check for spark. No spark? it may be the ignition module.

Plugs dry and spark present? No fuel?Spray a little starting fluid and see if it will run on that.
Then check pump fuses and for fuel pump noise.

My 1999 masda 626 won't start. it turns over but acts like it isn't getting any fuel.

check relays/fuses first then the pump if you know how to test it
the pump is easy to test locate any fuel line unplug it tell a friend to make a quick one key turn if squirts fuel then pump is fine
but check the pump relay first to make sure and to begin with simplest
it seems you can tell it is the pump but you don`t know where to start

My 1998 Mazda 626 is not getting any power to the fuel pump. I currently have straight wires connected so that the car can run but that is only temporary. I want to fix it the right way.

On Many cars, there is an emergency fuel pump disconnect. It is usually located near the front passenger seat, between the seat & door jam. Make sure that it did not get turned off accidentally. Check your owners manual for the exact location of this cutoff switch. There is a 99% chance that this is your problem.

Sounds to me like a fuel related problem. When heavy accelerating more fuel is pushed through the system. I would check the fuel filter, and its possible its the fuel pump, but usually once the pump starts acting up, within a few days it will go out all together.
