With the quality of oils available today I would think that 6,000 Miles is an appropriate interval for normal use. If you are doing towing etc a shorter interval would not hurt it. There is nothing like good clean oil and filter change to prolong the life of an engine.

I'm about to buy a 2008 jeep liberty limited 4x4 automatic....Is this going to be a decent vehicle from a mechanical stand point? Are there alot of repairs? I really like the looks but in reading so many...

Jeeps can be very reliable vehicles. I have seen Jeeps with well over 200,000 miles on the odometer. Keep in mind that reliability is only is as good as the maintenance kept up on it. Regularly scheduled maintenance is the key to a reliable vehicle no matter what brand of vehicle it is. Every vehicle has it's bugs and quirks, but if there is an issue you can have it repaired for free, if it's under warranty. They will notify you if they have any recalls on a particular problem area. I hope this helps and congratulations.

Please advise me proper maintenance for 2007 jeep liberty sport 36000 mile. last service (34000) it was a list of supposed required stuff to do. just want to know what is needed and not. thanks

I don't know how much maintenace you have done in the past. Besides the normal inspections of the brakes, fluid levels and oil changes they do recomend changing the spark plugs and the axle fluid at 30,000 miles and adjusting your parking brake cable. hope this helps....

There is a maintenance light on with an exclamation point. What does this mean

It reminds you to do your 'regular scheduled maintenance' of your car.
Example: 50,000-miles, 70,000-miles, 100,000-miles, etc. These warnings are already programmed in your car's computers to simply remind you so the car is kept in top shape, and peak performance.
In some cases, if this maintenance warning is ignored, the car may not keep its peak performance or even break down, having to be towed.
The concerned car's authorized dealer usual performs these regularly scheduled maintenance, but competent independent auto repair shops, such as Midas, are able to do these reagular maintenance as well.

How can i get better gas mileage out of my liberty

  1. change spark plugs @ 30k miles
  2. change air filer,consider a more efficient filter such as K & N
  3. avoid 'jack rabbit' starts & stops
  4. try premium gas-the 'cost' per mile may outweigh the MPG on regular.
  5. check & maintain proper tire pressure.

You need to check your electric fan under the radiator cowl. That pull the heat away from the ac radiator. Liberty's have two fans. One Mechanical and one electric.
