Hello I have a problem with my 1997 Concorde, Engine 3.5-liter V6. He was driving on the road, when I had a loss of power, the engine roared, but did not accelerate. I already had a history of the fuel pump was failing. I changed the fuel pump and the problem continued. I noticed that two of the cylinders were not firing, so I changed the coil pack. I tested again and the engine will not start. When I try on, I have to give up for about 25 seconds and the lighting is not maintained. If full throttle, makes the attempt to remain idle, but if I let the throttle, the engine shuts down. What could be happening? I await your kind assistance. Thanks!

You need to test for spark on every cylinder and for adequate fuel pressure and volume.

SOURCE: 1997 sebring will only start when opening throttle and dies immed

DO NOT TOP OFF when you fill up.

Few ounce of gas in the EVAP system will cause this problem.

Move your car outdoor.

Disconnect the hose to the charcoal canister.

Let it vent overnight.

Re-connect next morning.

This should vent all the fuel out of the EVAP system.

DO NOT TOP OFF when fuel up.

Three things make the engine run. Air, fuel, spark. One or more of those is not present and the engine stops.pull a plug wire off, put a screwdriver in the end, have a friend turn over the engine while u hold the screwdriver near a metal part of the engine(dont touch the wire or screwdriver) look to see if there is a blueish white spark. If no then u have to trouble shoot the ignition. if yes... take off the air filter, spray some starter fluid in the air entrance and try to start. If it starts u have a fuel problem.
If the car has high mileage the timing belt could have broke

I'm sorry but if you had avoerheated it is probably the head gaskets. But also check the heater hoses and the bypass in the top front of the engine.

Are you talking about the cam drive belt or the accessory drive serpentine belt? What engine, the 2.0 liter 4-cylinder, or the 2.5 liter V6? If it's the serpentine belt, does it have air conditioning?

1997 concorde. Turned ignition on/off/on/off/on and received code: 1-2-5-4-5-5 I can not find this code online. Driving down the road it just quit running.

You have three codes there
12 - Memory standby power recently lost (Recently disconnected the battery, always appears this code (not problem))
Power loss light: Off
Limp-in mode: None

54 - No fuel injector sync pickup signal during engine rotation
Power loss light: On
Limp-in mode: Logic module will guess at injector timing

Possible Causes
Bad connection or wiring - Check the wiring and connections between the hall effect sensor (located underneath the distributer cap) and the logic module. Check the continuity of the two 3 conductor cables coming out of the sensor--these are prone to fatiguing and breaking inside the insulation where they exit the sensor if the cables are not properly tied down. You may be able to resolder them. Clean and regrease any corroded connectors with dielectric grease and repair any shorts.

Hall effect sensor failure - Check the two, flat 3 conductor cables coming out of the sensor. These often fatigue where they exit from the sensor. Upon replacing the sensor, make sure the cables are clipped or tied to the distributor cap shroud (or elsewhere) so they do not swing around.

Diagnostic Method - Trigger Parameters
- Engine cranking or running (signal coming from ignition reference sensor)
- No signal from the fuel injector sync pickup sensor

Results If Component Fails: Fault code 54 is stored. The engine will stall and will not start.

55 - End of message (Test Finished)
Power loss light: Off
Limp-in mode: None

this toyota 4 runner takes 5.2 liters of oil and the correct oil is 5W 30 motor oil. hope this helps.

you need to take the car to a muffler shop and have the catylitic converter changed... the converter is stopped up not letting the exaust leave the engine thus stopping it.

What other chrysler engines can you use on a 1997 Chrysler Concorde found an engine on ebay want to know if I can use it. Blown head gaskets on mine.

U don't scrap an engine for blown head gaskets, it is not that big a job if this is a 3.5 liter, and any 3.5 will work.

1997 4Runner oil quantity

For a V6 # Liter engine, you will use a galon and almost half (that is about 6 Liters of oil). I use a Toyota camry V6 3 Liter engine that shares the same engine with the Toyota 4Runner.
