Re: Where is output speed sensor on 2001 dodge raqm
The speed sensor is located in the overdrive gear case. The sensor is positioned over the park gear and monitors transmission output shaft rotating speed

bernardsblog.blogspot.com/.../dodge-transmission-output-speed-sensor.h... Sep 8, 2009 - The code was straight forward - PO720 - Output Speed Sensor Circuit.... words but if you've never seen the underside of a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup ...My 99 Dodge 2500 Ram won't accelerate..transmission is NOT ... RR - If the engine revs but the vehicle doesn't speed up then the trans is slipping.
output shaft speed sensor on top transmission. just depress the release tab disconnect electrical connector then remove output shaft sensor bolt.remove sensor.
Hi there: This code means that the transmission is slipping in high gear and the TCM (TRansmission Control Mocule) logic thinks it has incorrect ratio since it monitors input and output speed. Keep in mind that TCM uses input from the input speed sensor and output speed sensor to determine gear ratios. The TCM then compares the known gear ratio to the calculated gear ratio for the current range.
Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.
Start with checking you transmission solenoid under the hood. These do go bad often. But also have you serviced the transmission regular this is vital to know. Speed sensors in the trans need to pick up movement also in order to know what to do these are called VSS sensors Vehicle Speed Sensors in these you have input and output. These should be removed and cleaned and tested for resistance to see if it is within range. the sensor magnet wheel in the output shaft of the tranny can be sliiping on the shaft but!! due to it being a 2001 model you more than likely ahve internal clutch pack issues and bad worn or burnt clutch disk that tranny will not perform with severe internal damage
!/2 hr-1hr. labor, on hoist. 1/2 should do it. part will be $15-$45 depending on your particular transmission. Unless you were talking about ABS speed sensor.
The speed sensor is on the tailshaft of the transmission,on the passenger side of the car,it has 3 wires. The output sensors are located on the front of the transmission about mid-way up the housing & only have 2 wires. Note the output sensors are not responsible for vehicle speed. Only the output shaft speed is recorded. They are for finding the correct cvi(clutch volume index) only. If you have a cvi issue, the transmission is toast.
Go to http://www.hmaservice.com/ and register (vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you'll have access to technical information (manuals, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, etc) about your vehicle.
