I have a 98 ford Taurus and when I turn to the right it makes a "tinging" noise. It happens even when I just turn a little and as soon as I go straight again, it stops. It doesn't make any noise when I turn to the left.

ford taurus ? think this model is similar to out ford mondeo except with a bigger engine version available as most of ours are diesel ,really would need to hear and drive the car to know for sure ,one humming noise to one person can mean screaming noise to another so i would advise you ask a local mechanic to have a drive and he will tell you straight away what it is ,sorry but ?? anyway here is a bit of english humour for you to enjoy
most likely you're right on it bad water pump, some times they don't always leak when bad. you can take radiator cap off while running to look @ see if it's circulating though thats a start
it may not be the pump its self it could be just the belt or the pulley, if it is whining. if its grinding then that would be more that the pump is faulty of it may have air in the system.
at the base of the wiper arms pop the caps off turn on the wipers see if the safts are moving if they are tighten the nuts a little if that doesn't work you will have to replace the wiper arms i had the same ting happen on all three of my fords truck van and taurus
