Went to start engine and no response. All accessories work and no sound when key is turned (no click, flutter, etc...). Car is not in gear. Checked starter fuse and is ok.

If you mean went out by accessories turn on but ignition will not engage then yes...go to car parts store and pick up a push button start... key must be in accessory mode for the starter to fire the car..ie fuel pump on, engine computer, etc all controlled by accessory mode.
You have triggered the security system. Try turning the key to the ON position without starting. Wait 10 minutes. NO LESS. Turn key back, then try to start. If that doesn't work, you may need to bypass. http://diy-gm-security.com/
Try shifting into neutral and pressing on the brake while turning your key. Sometimes when I'm in park my shifter doesn't make the switch that says I'm in park, if I turn the key...nothing....cause my car "thinks" it's in gear.
