Place a large bowl underneath the bottom radiator hose. Undo the bottom hose - and always twist the hose back and forth in a clockwise-counterclockwise direction as you pull it off. Flexing the hose up and down can damage the metal of the radiator connection.
Remove the expansion tank cap (where you fill with coolant).
The old coolant will then come out of the bottom hose into the bowl.
Replace and tighten the bottom hose.
Use a mixture of water and coolant 50-50 and pour it into the radiator expansion tank until it reaches the 'max' level. Do not fill to the very top.
Leave the cap for the expansion tank OFF.
Start the engine and let it idle for 5 minutes. This will allow any air in the radiator and cooling system to escape. The coolant level in the expansion tank may also drop.
Switch off the engine. If need be, add more coolant to bring it up to the 'max' level in the expansion tank.
Refit the cap to the expansion tank.
Job done.
Hi!!
On the bottom of the radiator, there is a drain valve, just open it and drain fluid into a container, if you want faster drain, remove bottom radiator hose.
NOTE: DO NOT OPEN SYSTEM WHEN HOT, COOLANT IS POISONOUS FOR PETS, KEEP IT AWAY FROM THEM.
Good Luck!! Rate this post!!
