I would NOT recommend using 20w-50 oil in your Accord at all. The manufacturers state a certain multi-viscosity oil to use in all their vehicles and you should stay with that. Many cars use a 5w-30,5w-20 oil and some should use a 0w-20 oil. Modern engines have tighter tolerances on the internal moving parts of the engine than engines from the 1970's and 1980's. A 20w-50 oil is way too high a viscosity(thickness) to use in todays engines. The second number, say 30, is the viscosity of the oil when the engine warms up to normal operating temperature. Yes it would. 2W20 is fine when then engine is new. Upon piling up the miles on the engine a heavier grade of oild is needed. the same for hotter climates evn if the engine is new
