Hi. here's how to change the fuel pump. The actual electric fuel pump is in the tank on the right side. The tank is directly below the rear seat. If you remove the seat bottom you will find a 6 inch or so cover. Under the cover there is a plastic, threaded collar that locks the fuel pump into the tank. The driver's side also has a pump, but it works only my venturi effect from the electric pump on the other side. This pump is used to equalize the fuel level from left to right. The drive shaft tunnel prevents all but the very top of the tank from communicating left to right.

Removal and Installation - Fuel Pump

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, please familiarize yourself with safety procedures.
  2. Remove the rear seat cushion to and any insulation padding covering the access covers.
  3. Drain the fuel tank.
  4. Support the tank and loosen the straps to gain access to the pump.
  5. Remove the access covers.
NOTE The routing of the internal fuel crossover tubes is critical to correct fuel system operation. Note the routing of the internal fuel crossover hoses at this time.
  6. Partially raise the fuel transfer pump and disconnect the internal fuel crossover tube quick release fittings.
  7. Disconnect the fuel pump module tube quick release fitting from the fuel pump module and position aside.
CAUTION Drain the remaining fuel from the delivery module into the fuel tank prior to removal.
  8. Before removal, attach a non-conductive material to the crossover tubes. Then remove the fuel pump module and crossover tubes as an assembly, using the non-conductive material to pull the crossover lines through the gas tank.
  9. Remove and discard the fuel pump module gasket.
To install:
  1. Install the fuel pump module and crossover tubes as an assembly.
  2. Attaching the non-conductive material to the crossover tubes, pull the crossover tubes through the gas tank to install the fuel pump module.
  3. Using tool 310-069, install the fuel pump module using a new gasket. Install the lock ring and tighten to 59 ft. lbs. (80 Nm).
NOTE Make sure that the fuel crossover tubes are routed correctly.
  4. Partially raise the fuel transfer pump and connect the internal fuel crossover hose quick disconnect fittings.
  5. Using the tool 310-069, install the fuel transfer pump with a new gasket and lock ring. Tighten to 59 ft. lbs. (80 Nm).
  6. Connect the fuel pump module tube quick release fitting at the fuel pump module.
  7. Connect the fuel pump module and fuel transfer pump electrical connectors.
  8. Install the fuel pump module and fuel transfer pump access covers.
  9. Install the rear seat bottom and any insulation padding covering the access covers.
  10. Tighten the 2 fuel tank support strap bolts to 26 ft. lbs. (35 Nm).
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.

Hope helps (remember rated this).

SOURCE: 2004 lincoln ls has p0420 code c ev o oh e

If you have a 2004 lincoln ls,the PO420 is-- Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold. ( Bank 1) The list of possible causes are long. I have the same vehicle, and the Emissions Manual, which is several hundred dollars. Don't let anyone tell you it is a bad Converter. It may be, but it is only six years old. I would check for codes. The ignition coils (Coil-On-Plug) go bad on all Fords and a misfire, resulting overheating of exhaust system etc, will set all kinds of codes, and they may not be related, to the real issues. Lincoln is where one of everything goes, when it comes to the latest technology. Check that the O2 Sensors are screwed in tight. Later on you may need to have them checked out,if no ignition issues or malfunctioning coolant temp sensor issues. Use only 5-20 Oil. I use Mobil 1 synthetic. Hopefully your not using any,and ruining the converter. Make sure you have the system full of coolant, including the Degas container, the one where antifreeze mix goes. Remember GO5 Yellow antifreeze on ford products. Also bleed the hose next to the brake booster to let out air,in the coolant system. You can check for above normal fuel pressure. I would not go to a Dealer and spend more than necessary. Find a good shop that knows these vehicles. You can't fix every problem on all makes that come thru your doors today. Hope I give you a start on things to have checked. I would stand in the service bay by the car and have the tech prove what is wrong before I would authorize any part replacement.

SOURCE: where is the fuel shut off pump switch lincoln ls

The fuel cut off reset switch is located behind the driverside left kick panel, if you are sitting inside the car and where your left foot is, theres a panel there should be a hole there but sometimes there isnt, and the panel must be pulled off or back, there you will see the switch and on the top of it is where you would use your finger to push down, here a diagram to help you. good luck.johnjohn2_80.gif
