Ok so what??? thats 18 degrees above boiling temp at see level!
you forget the engine water jaket is under pressure and this will stop it boiling,,,it works just like a pressure cooker,,,they work well above boiling tem,,also thats why to never never open the rad cap when the engine is still hot,,,,the pressure will be let off to fast and the water will boil with a bag bang!
if the engine go's into the "red!" and that bothers you change the thermostat

It's actually normal for engine temps to go up to 220 deg. F or 230 deg. F in the summer time, even in normal engines that run at 196 deg. F typically.

This happened to me with no malfunctions on my 1997 Cadillac Deville, yesterday.

Actually, engines run more efficiently at higher temperatures like this.

Just make sure your coolant is topped off and that it fluctuates between lower temperatures and this high reading.

This is a normal temperature in my experience for GM vehicles.

I replaced the temp coolant sensor thermostat and radiator and the tep still goes up to 212 to 225 is this normal

It depends on the ambient air temperature and whether or not the AC is being used. Once the thermostat opens the engine coolant temperature can run from 210-230 degrees. So your good.

Are you sure there are no air pockets in the cooling system ?
You should have heat anytime the engine temp is above 140 degrees regardless what the thermostat is doing.

Jeep keeps overheating replaced relay

A mechanic would use a scanner to check the engine temp sensor.
The temp sensor tells the computer what the engine temp is and the computer activates the fan relay when the temp reaches about 230 degrees.
Since you said relay I am assuming your Jeep has an electric radiator fan.

Coolant fan wont come on

Could be the temp sensor, low coolant, or the fan relay.
The temp sensor tells the computer how hot the engine is and the computer grounds the fan relay. It should come on around 230 degrees.

2005 Chevy Impala. Engine fan only kicks on when engine is very hot {220-230 degrees). Is this a fan sensor problem?

Believe it or not,230 is about where GM puts it. Claim the engine pollutes less at hot temps.
Fans should run with the AC on tho, mine runs cooler with the AC on .

What is hte proper temp on a 2008 cobalt?

Ususally the thermostat opens at 195 to 200 degrees. Coolant and pressure allow normal temps to go to 230 to 240, and much higher under heat soak condition (unit turned off). Fans kick in near that temp. So, the engine needs to be that hot to be efficient and to have emission controls shift to normal... Also the high temprature prolongs engine life by forcing moisture from the oil.

Temperature stays consistant while driving but

That does not seem too abnormal to me. I believe you have a 195 degree F thermostat, so you should probably be a bit cooler than 230 that is for sure. You have got an engine temperature sensor, should be located on cooling port on intake, you have a coolant temperature sensor on rad. Have you put in a new thermostat?

Most engine operrating temperatures are 180-190 degrees. If the coolant gets hotter it turns to steam.
