What will cause my Toyota Hilux to smoke with loud engine noise at high rpm? When accelerated to speeds of approimately 130km/hr, the engine races of, which feel like no control to the vehicle, smokes ( white/black) and alot of engine noise. When pedal is released and engine rpm reduces the vehicle then runs normal at that low/med rpm, if increased to that appox. 130km/hr problem persists. Regards, Riad

SOURCE: hi there. i have a 1986 toyota hilux 3.0l turbo(knocking)

I have a Toyota Hilux 3.0 KZ-TE fitted with a intercooler and on Saterday on a 4x4 outing the engine light on the dashboard came on and the motor started spluttering and excessive white smoke came out of the exhaust. The problem persisted for several minutes and then went away. The verdict from other 4x4 owners was that the turbo needs an overall, I cannot understand this as it is fine again with no mechanical interferance.

My Explorer is demonstrating a high pitch noise and feels like the engine is racing with acceleration, but no check engines lights are on

I really need the year but here is what might be the cause, the engine cooling fan clutch may be defective, if it locks up you will hear a roaring noise that gets louder as the engine speed increases. Open The hood and rev up the engine does the fan make allot of noise, like an airplane propeller?
tip

Loss in engine power, sluggish responses, low top speed, etc.

If your car has
  1. Poor fuel responses
  2. Lost its "power"
  3. Low RPM
  4. Lower top speed
  5. Burns a lot of fuel
Then it could be because of carbon build-ups in your engine's combustion chamber. This is left behind with unburned fuel. It causes poor acceleration, a loss in power, lower top speed, and burns more fuel than it really has too. Not to mention causes smoke belching.

The best way to get rid of that would be to have a carbon ridding solution injected into the combustion chamber. The solution will liquify the carbon and other build-ups, which would then restore the "power" of your car. You'll get better acceleration, higher rpm and top speed, save fuel, etc. have a mechanic do it for you. It's alot cheaper and faster than having the engine overhauled (overhaul could trigger "loose compression").

Driving along makes a very loud noise like motor is racing, but continue driving, noise goes away then starts again???

Please take a look at your Engine's RPMs when this is happening and let us know, as it will help with the diagnosis. If the Engine RPM is stable (not high during the periods of the racing engine sound), then it sounds like your Radiator Fan clutch may be going out. The noise you are hearing is the fan kicking in and blowing a lot of air, which in turn sounds like the engine is racing.

If the RPMs are increasing with the racing engine sound, it could be the transmission/(clutch if manual trans) slipping.
Hope this helps!

The speedometer on my toyota D4 corona premio suddenly drops when i step on the accelerator with the intention of increasing my speed. when i try to speed up the vehicle almost stops but moves smoothly on...

wow, no year stated,
over 100 things, do you want us to guess? or advise tests.
????
never did a full tuneup tops all lists, every-own skips this.

this is called (if rpm is low) low engine power
caused by
misfiring,
starving for fuel.
or sick engine(means vast things, but slipped timing belt(tune up)
???
my guess is you seek wild guessing
but will not.
just finish that tuneup skipped at 60,000 miles, and magic can happen.

2001 Toyota Camry. Loud rumble on start/warm-up, slightly decreasing after some drive time. Engine seems strained (with louder rumble and vibration) mostly in lower gears, accelerating and/or uphill. No...

Have you checked your oil and fluid levels in the engine and transmisson.
if it's a manual could the clutch be worn out causing the high rpm and thrust bearing noise in the clutch.
