On the low pressure line of the ac you have a pressure switch which allows the compressor to come on once a certain pressure is reached, and it will cut the compressor off if the pressure is too high or too low. Look at your ac hose and find the switch *you will see wires connected to it* you may need to replace this switch. You can use a test light to see if you are getting power to the switch. You should check you fuses, and the ac relay witch is usually in a black plastic box under the hood.

Manually run one wire from the positive side of battery to one of the wires of the clutch connector, one of them should complete circuit and clutch will engage. if clutch engages, good clutch then. if not, then replace clutch. if it works then locate the low freon switch, unplug the connector and jumper the plug, clutch should engage. if it does then switch was bad. if still no engage, then problem is before that switch, probably the tenp control computer

SOURCE: a/c has full freon but

COULD BE THE LOW PRESSURE SWITCH ON THE RECIEVER /DRIER CK FOR POWER THERE IF HAS 12 VOLTS ONE SIDE JUMPER TERMINALS AT SWITCH COMPRESSOR SHOULD RUN . IF JUMPER GETS HOT LOOK FOR SHORT TO GROUND IN COMP/COIL CIRCUIT OR SHORTED COIL .

Will no freon prevent me from adding freon if the compressor wont engage without it

Sort of.
If the system is empty, you would need to jumper the low pressure switch to power the ac clutch to put the first can or two of freon in.
Keep in mind the system is supposed to be vacuumed out before adding freon, so if it is full of air you won't be able to put the full amount of gas in.

My 2003 vw jetta ac clutch wont engage. you can hear the car idle up as if the ac has engaged but then within in 2 seconds its stops at this time when it idles up i get a 12v signal at the compressor

IS THE SYSTEM FULL OF FREON? IF ITS LOW THE A/C CLUTCH WILL NOT ENGAGE. ITS KIND OF LIKE A FAIL-SAFE FOR THE SYSTEM. IF THE FREON IS FULL AND YOU HAVE 12V TO THE COMPRESSOR I WOULD CHECK OUT THE CYCLING SWITCH ALSO.

Ac won't get cold anymore power to compressor but won't click on clutch won't engage possible problems are compressor or evaporator what do you think?

Has the Freon been checked with a gauge to see if there is enough Freon to allow the system to work. Low or no Freon will not allow the compressor to engage. The low pressure switch is most likely activated due to low freon, and will cause this condition.

Air compressor not engage was blowing cold just quit while running check fuse all show good check freon all good no broken hoses compressor wont kick in getting fire ti presser switch

the clutch on the air compressor coil is proably burnt out. disconnect electrical plug at end of air compressor and supply current direct from battery to see if clutch engages, if it does not, change thecoil clutch switch.

Air conditioner inop

First suggestion is the clutch not engaging. Check voltage at clutch plug and confirm power source, if there is power there then clutch would work unless it has failed.
