My 1988 bmw 325i fuel pump will not come on, I take pos-neg from battery after I took pump out and it works?, I replaced it with a new\r\npump and I have the same issue. the pos wire has power and the ground works,with a test light, but either pump wont come on?

Have you checked your fuel pump relay? This is located in the engine bay, front left, near the air-intake. Is grouped with a 2-3 other relays, seperate from fuse box.

remove rear seat, it's just clipped in. remove fuel pump acces cover gasket, pull out fuel pump assembly. Hold off smoking till later. order online new pump for a third of the price. reinstall. bingo...done.
The number one problem with these cars is with clogged fuel filters. They must be changed regularly. When you say it won't start, do you mean it cranks but won't fire? That could be a fuel pressure problem due to a clogged filter.
