Had the same problem on the same year car, i assume by not functioning you mean that the orange lights are on. For me it was a broken sensor on the driver side hub ($9.50 at IPAexperts.com), to find out which one just start unplugging them (if your flexible you don't even need to take the tire off) 1 bad sensor = ABS and ESP lights, 2 bad sensors = ABS, ESP and a flashing emergency brake light. so if you unplug one and nothing changes on the dash then that's the bad one ;-) simple.
You need to bleed all 4 the breaks fully then refill master cylinder. This will solve the problem. I had the same problem 3 months ago and they wanted to charge me 285.00 to hook up a computer diagnostic and fix the problem. Save urself the money and just bleed the breaks.

Fellow Suzuki owners: this link is for the recall of 2005-2006 Suzuki Gran Vitara. The steeringwheel locks up and can cause accidents. Also, the A/C might not work properly prior to this happening.

SOURCE: fit new indicator stalk to VW passat esp , abs light on now
the stalk should have no interference with the abs or esp set up what i would look at doing is checking your abs sensors they can go all of a flash...goodluck
SOURCE: The ABS warning light !
Scan for codes, it will tell you which VSS vehicle speed sensor is not working, wire migh be broken or you might need to change the wheel hub/bearing.
