Dealership has to repalce control unit and clear the trouble codes, a free fix is unpluging your hvac fuses, and disconnecting your battery for 3 minutes, and then reconnecting your battery, and pluging in your hvac fuse, ensure the controls are off so that the hvac can go through all its cycles to regain the correct positon. sometimes the control doors move out of indexed range and the computer doesnt know what position they are in, so they default to defrost. if yours isnt too far out of range you can go back to enjoying normal ac and heat, if it is too far out of range you can still have ac and heat just through the defrost postion.

When i turn my A/C on it blows hot air and there is a leek on my pasenger side dash board. what is it

Had exact same problem with my 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500. Would blow hot air thru drivers vents only and sometimes if I turned truck off and restarted would blow air conditioner for a bit. Rec'd recall letter from Chevrolet in January for this problem.

02 SILVERADO. AIR ONLY BLOWS OUT DEFROST VENTS. REPLACED CONTROL PANEL. NO LUCK

I had a similar issue on an 05 silverado. Air would only blow out of defrost vents. But this worked for me:

1) Unplug HVAC fuse for 10-30 seconds
2) Start truck
3) A/C comes out defrost - wait about 10 to 15 secs
4) A/C then starts coming out the floor vents for about 5 seconds
5) A/C then starts coming out the dash vents.
6) While the A/C is coming out the dash vents, turn A/C OFF (otherwise it cycles back to defrost for good).
7) Turn truck OFF
8) Restart truck and it should work fine

2004 chevy k2500 no air out of defrost vents, temp controls work fine cannot direct air to defrost vent

You may have a problem or bad connection in the a/c-heat control unit I'd remove that and inspect that first. As long as you do have heat elsewhere you can rule out the blend door actuator. There are vents that open and close and you will need to be able to access and check them. You will need to remove dash to be able to get to them.

AC/Heat/Defrost inoperable

Chanses are its either the blend door motor quit working or the controls ( temp., selector, blower) in dash are bad, my 95 did the same thing i chg. the blend door motor thinking it was that, but it turned out to be the controls in the dash, 5 minutes work and 140.00 later it was fixed.

My Defrost doesn't work

Check to see if the duct hose to the defroster vents has come loose. If air is blowing out under the dash when you have the control set to defrost, then this is likely.

Relaced battery now vents don't work

There is a flap in the venting that can stick. This vent is contolled by a vacuum operated actuator that may be leaking. This actuator has a vacuum hose that runs to the contol panel. Check the vaccum lines hear as well.

2003 chevy silverado air does not blow through vents. Condenser works. Pipes are cold. Fan works. Modular (next to fan) repalced to get fan to work. Heater air conditioner controls under radio replaced....

The air vents are control by vacuum line and or linkage.

Listen for hiss or feel for vacuum leak under the dash,

Feel for broken linkage(s) that are close to the vents.

WORK BACKWARD if you have small hands to feel out where is the missing link.
