On the 1991 740 the fuse box is located behind the black ashtray, unless you have a 740se, in which case it can be located on the side near the door, like in the 760turbo and 780bertone turbo. good luck :)

Cooling fan relays are usually located under the hood in the engine compartment in the black box with all of the fuses. On the under side of the box cover it will usually give a drawing of the fuses and relays and the position they hold in the box.
On these Volvo models, the common fuse compartment is located on the very edge of the dashboard - you will need to open the door wide open to gain access to the fuse cover. The other main fuse box, is situated next to the engine bay firewall, on the driver's side (refer to diagrams below).
The fuse boxes are located in three different places: A - Relays/fuse box in the engine compartment * B - Fuse box in the passenger compartment C - Relays/fuse box in the trunk *
I have a 1987 740 & the fuse box is located behind the ash tray in the center console. After removing the ash tray you can access the fuse box. Each fuse description, size, & location are listed on the back of the ash tray.
