I recently replaced the plastic adapter on my 1991 cadillac deville power steering pump. The power steering worked fine for 3 days and then started leaking again. I can not find the leak any where. I just went out and looked at it again and no leak...I drove the car and no leak. What could be causing this periodic leak?

Unfortunately from previous experience as a master Cadillac technician I have seen the same issue several times. There is an "o" ring between the reservoir "plastic adapter" and the pump. Very difficult to pinpoint the leak. Most likely the "o" ring is either missing or cut. Even a small nick will cause a leak.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: power steering leak

To try to find the leak, purchase a spray can of engine cleaner and spray the entire area of the pump and hoses. Then wash off with a garden hose. Fill pump reservoir with fluid. Have someone turn the steering wheel while you look in that area of the pump and hoses with a flashlight for the leak. Be careful of rotating fan and belts!

Why is power steering fluid coming out of the cap? I just replaced the pump because it was leaking

Too much fluid is in the pump. After purging the air out of the lines stop the engine and let it settle before checking fluid level in the pump.

My 95 cadillac deville power steering just started acting up. Its not the power steering fluid cus i checked and its full. It will work then just go out then work again. Does it need a new pump or what?

I would try a new belt first. If the belt it is old it could be slick and slipping or loose which would cause problems with the steering pump..

Where is the power steering fluid in my 1991 deville

Hello: The power steering pump and fluid reservoir sit on the top of the engine toward the radiator on the passenger side, there should be a cap on top in back of the pulley that will come off, on the bottom side of the cap there is a dip stick, fill the reservoir to the line on the cap. Use power steering fluid, DO NOT USE ANYTHING ELSE.

How much would it cost to have a power steering pump and belt replaced on a 1995 Cadillac Deville?

Being a fairly easy job for a competent mechanic, you'd be looking at a day's work. $300-400 in total.

I have a 1991 cadillac deville. The batterey went bad so I replaced it. Now it cranks over perfectly, but it will not start. Everything in the ignition system is good and the fuel pump is fine. I heard...

To restart the ECU unplug the battery for 1/2hr and turn key on

But if your battery was bad The ECU should have lost power then..

What i do to be sure is unplug red and black from battery,, then tuch them together so you dont have to wait,"""NOT RECOMMENDED""" This is what i do..Works for me, some say this is not a good idea,,
