When was your last tune up? with that kind of mileage it could be possible that the transmission itself has wear and tear that a fluid and filter will not help. How does the car idle etc. Have you had the problem diagnosed by a professional mechanic at all?
Thank you,
Lee
I am not sure about the tune up, I just bought it recently. It does run fine and it does idle fine. The people I bought it from apparantly live in the country, so I was thinking maybe something related to collecting dust. The mechanic I took it to is semi-professional. It has not been diagnosed from a transmission shop. I was trying to avoid to additional cost, if it is something I can get fixed. It shifts into the other gears smmothly and fine. Just when I start out. Not always but frequently it shifts hard.
Well the solenoid packs are known to wear out on these vehicles and just that one could be worn out and is what is causing your problem. I would have that looked at and its about a 100$ part. If you need more information let me know.
Thank you,
Lee
I will try this.
Thanks
Rough shifting can be caused by a failing or worn out Throttle Position Sensor. This was the case with my 2003 T & C. 150,000 miles. All other on line forums pointed to anything from wiring harnesses to TCMs to the transmission itself. Error codes were of no help. Observation of the vehicle operation over time lead to this diagnosis and successful repair!
