P0700 - Transmission Control System Malfunction.
Basically what that means is that a malfunction has been detected in the transmission and associated components.

The good news is it might be covered under warranty. You didn't say if your vehicle is still under warranty, be aware that you may still have warranty coverage on this since your car is just 3 years old.

The bad news is that the P0700 code really means that there are transmission-specific codes that you can't access with a regular code reader. There is a part called a TCM - transmission control module that works in a similar way to your PCM. The TCM handles the transmission electrical "stuff" and it stores further transmission codes.

If you want to pursue the issue yourself, you'll need to get your hands on a higher end code reader, or take it to the dealer or a transmission shop to get the actual transmission trouble codes read. Personally we recommend you get a shop to read those codes for you. The other codes are communication codes, we recommend you clear those codes after you fix the P0700 code and see if they come back, they could be related to the "main" transmission issue. The other good news is the fix for this may just be a software update that the dealer can do.

Hope helps (remember comment and rated this).

What do i need to replace to fix error code p0700 on a 2002 dodge intrepid

(DTC) CODE # P0700....Transmission Control System (MIL Request) Translation: Transmission Control Module (TCM) Malfunction or Failure. P0700 Information Code The Transaxle Control Module (TCM) monitors the malfunction of sensors and actuators relating to transaxle control. If any malfunction is detected, the TCM informs the PCM by sending a signal (P0700 code). P0700 means that a code has been set in the TCM. This code is for information ONLY. If this code is present, check for transaxle codes. So basically, the P0700 code is telling you to check the TCM for a transaxle DTC. The TCM can not turn on the check engine light so it has the PCM do it.

I hope this helps....let me know if I can assist further !!

I have a 2002 Dodge Intrepid 2.7L and ran the coputer and gave me codes P0700,P0056,P0135,P0141,P0155,P0161, Po871. I have replaced all O2 sensors and cam shaft and the codes for the sensors still come up....

Try removing the negitive cable from the battery for 5 minutes. Hook it back up and start the car. Let it warm up and then drive it normally for 2 or 3 miles. Then recheck for the codes.

I have a 2002 Dodge Ingtrepid with a P0700 failure code. They said its the Transaxle control module. Can someone please tell how to fix this problem?

P0700 is a genetic code for the TCM has lost data connection from the transmission. Check all the fuses and wire harness to the TCM from the transmission. If everything look fine from the transmission to the TCM, then the TCM may have gone bad. One way to find out if it's the TCM is to go to a good transmission shop that can test drive the car while it's hooked up to a scanner which would indicate if it's the TCM or the wire harness or transmission it self. Note: one of the biggest flaw the intrepid have is that the wire harness to the shift solenoid is in the transmission, surrounded in the transmission oil which corrode the wire harness. Good luck and most transmission shop will trouble shot this free of charge.

Ya, trans is done. Internal failure is common on these as well as the caravan - same internal parts, same internal problems. A salvage yard can tell you what years will work with their interchange manuals
