The power steering pump and hoses are near to right engine side and exhaust pipe , go to workshop to repair , maybe a hose is broken

  • 4 Networks Aug 11, 2011

Your powersteering reservoir tan must have a leaky,or the powersteering system is leaking on the the exhaust and into the innereds,or on top of the cat,so it blows smoke when cold start.but burns off after time.Get all hoses checked, replace gaskets around PWS pump, get a qualified mechanic to Inspect from underneath.

I have a 93 explorer and the tranny or oil is leaking really bad I think it's the tranny because it only leaks when in gear and its a bad leak it makes a line when I back up and take off or just sit s

Those A5 trannies are junk and can set the vehicle on fire in less than 5 minutes with low fluid. Red fluid is tranny, oil is oil. Rear seal-oil- big repair. Tranny coolant pipes-Tranny fluid-small repair. Replace filter, fluid, and gasket-it's probably over due-and check again for leaks. rear tranny seal leak, average size job.. Never use the stop leak! Throwing flour on the tranny works better-Just kidding.

Signs of power steering leak. smoke from under the hood on the driver side? 2 times this winter on -0 days after making a hard RH turn with in seconds i have smoke from under the hood and into the...

This may be as simple as a loose clamp on the powersteering return hose, you would need to put the car up and take a look at the powersteering lines or look for a stain or wet spot on fluid, if it smokes that bad then it must be hittting the exhaust, one problem ive seen is the rack leaks into the boots and when a hard turn is made and the boot closesit pushing the fluid out, so remove the clamp from each boot on the rack and see if oil runs out or just look and see if there oil on the boot ends, most of the time its one side that leaks.

My 2002 lincoln LS is sputtering white smoke out the exhaust and leaking power steering fluid severily. I can't drive more than 5 miles w/o putting more fluid in.

You can not use the vehicle at all

Repair the P/S Leak

It may be fluid burning off the exhaust
pipes

You don't want white smoke coming from inside
the exhaust system, or you got coolant in the
engine cylinders and big problems.

The power steering pump doesnt have anything to do with the exhaust, unless you mean it smokes under the hood...not the tail pipe...right? If you have to add fluid, there is a leak, most likely from the High Pressure line.

SMOKE COMING OUT THE TAILPIPE

blue smoke = burning oil

however, your symptoms sound more like black smoke which means you are running rich.... this could be caused by leaking injectors

personally it sounds like you have multiple unrelated concerns... which do you want to address first

I have a 2002 95 wagon and when i put in reverse

Some smoke is normal in high milage vehicles. As long as there isn't smoke coming from the pipe all the time you will be ok. Mostly what happens is the valve seals will deteriorate and leak some oil into the piston chamber which will burn when the vehicle is started.

Big puff of white smoke at start up after sitting for several hours.

white smoke is water
blue smoke is oil.
nest time try and smell the white smoke see if it smells sweet?
if it does its antifreeze.
and also black smoke is fuel (like a leaky injector )
hope this helps
