I have to add power steering fluid every 3 weeks or so b/c there is a horrible sound when I turn the steering wheel. I can't see anything leaking from under the car. Saturn replaced rack and pion about 8 month ago to the tune of $1,000. That was supposed to solve the problem. It didn't.

Fix leak, top up fluid, done.

to bleed power steering, with front wheels off ground slightly with front wheels pointing straight ahead.engine off. remove power steering filler cap.add power steering until fluid level stop dropping,wait couple minutes and wait, add fluid until level stay at full cold mark on power steering cap dip stick. dont over fill.when fluid level stop dropping, start vechicle,let it idle few minutes. see if fluid level drop if so add more fluid full cold mark.then turn steering all the way to left and right with out hitting a stop.turn steering wheel several times, then turn front wheels pointing forward check power steering fluid level.if power steering fluid level stop dropping air should be out of system, if steering turning wheel dont turn smoothly and power steering fluid look light tan color air getting in the system.check all power steering lines to rack and power steering pump for leaks.be sure you replaced all the power steering lines with new o rings if not you will get a leak.if you find a leak, you need to fix the leak and bleed system again.dont drive vechicle if your steering dont feel right,have vechicle towed to a garage.

Do you mean hard to steer your steering wheel?
If you have a noise when you are turning your steering wheel, you may have low power steering fluid. Add power steering fluid into your power steering fluid reservoir to the level required (check with your manual book). Make sure you get the right power steering fluid for Audi A4. Hope it will help

It's either a loose belt or the pressure regulator inside the pump has failed. I wouldn't leave town until a new power steering pump is installed.

WHEN FLUID LEVEL STOP DROPPING.SAFELY RAISE SUPPORT VECHICLE FRONT WHEELS.START ENGINE.NOW TURN STEERING WHEEL GENTLY FROM STOP TO STOP MEANING LEFT TO RIGHT DONT HOLD IN POSITION.LET THE STOP TO STOP BE QUICK.CHECK POWER STEERING FLUID AFTER YOU HAVE TURN STEERING WHEEL ABOUT 7 STOP TO STOP.WHEN FLUID LEVEL STOP DROPPING YOU AT HOT MARK ON DIP STICK BLEEDING PROCESS COMPLETE.TURN OFF ENGINE LOWER VECHICLE BACK TO GROUND WAIT ABOUT 5 MINUTES CHECK YOUR FLUID LEVEL.IF FLUID LOOKS LIKE A TAN COLOR.YOUR POWER STEERING SYSTEM FULL OF AIR.TURN OFF VECHICLE LET VECHICLE SET A LONG WHILE TO AIR BUBBLES SETTLE DOWN LOOK FOR LEAKS AROUND POWER STEERING PUMP FRONT SEAL AND CHECK FOR LEAKS AROUND POWER STEERING LINES.

TO BLEED POWER STEERING SYSTEM.TO DO THIS.FILL THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR TO COLD FULL MARK ON DIP STICK.WAIT A FEW MINITES,FLUID LEVEL DROP ADD MORE FLUID UNTIL REACH COLD MARK ON THE DIP STICK..WAIT FEW MINUTES.START ENGINE LET IT RUN FOR 2 OR 3 SECONDS.TURN OFF ENGINE CHECK POWER STEERING FLUID ADD MORE FLUID.DO THIS UNTIL FLUID LEVEL STOP DROPPING.WHEN FLUID LEVEL STOP DROPPING.SAFELY RAISE FRONT OF THE VECHICLE UNTIL FRONT WHEELS DONT TOUCH THE GROUND.START ENGINE UP.TURN THE STEERING WHEEL GENTLY FROM STOP TO STOP,CHECK THE RESERVOIR FLUID LEVEL LOOKS GOOD TURN OFF ENGINE LOWER VECHICLE .LOWER VECHICLE TO GROUND. LET VECHICLE SET FOR 2 MINUTES CHECK POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL.IF STILL LOW ADD LITTLE MORE.TO THE COLD FULL MARK ON DIP STICK. DONT OVER FILL BECAUSE FLUID LEVEL RISES WHEN IT GET HOT.WHEN DONE IF STEERING WHEEL STILL FEEL HARD TO TURN YOU SEE AIR BUBBLES IN FLUID THATS WHEN FLUID HAS A TAN LOOKING COLOR WAIT 5 MINUTES AND.REPEAT THE BLEEDING PROCESS. DONT DRIVE OR OPERATE VECHICLE ON HIGHWAY UNTIL POWER STEERING HAS NORMAL OPERATION.

sounds like you may be out of steering fluid check your power steering reivour add power steering fluid to designated mark on dip stick then watch for leaks

The system will bleed out the air by turning the wheel all the way from one side to the other repeatedly, do this action at least 10 times to be sure all the air is remove from the hydraulic system. Be sure not to allow the fluid level to drop too low or air will get back into the system.
