When I had this issue it was because the seal has worn or flattened so much in the water neck that it was leaking. Follow the upper hose to the engine which will go to the water neck. I replaced both the thermostat and the water neck and this fixed the leaking problem. But, you have to fully burp the system of all the air, otherwise, it'll keep overheating or get close to doing it.
SOURCE: 98 dodge caravan problems
I had the same issue with my dodge caravan and after several attempts by the dealer to fix it, it turned out to be a broken wire. They replaced the relay and it would work for a while and then go blank again. Have the wires checked thoroughly.
SOURCE: water leak and water in oil
Water in the oil is never a good sign. You need to have a cylinder leakdown and radiator pressure test done to confirm where the leak is. Sometimes though, the testing may be inconclusive. Either way, you need to have it torn down and checked/repaired. You cannot continue to drive it this way or it will relult in complete loss of your engine.
SOURCE: Masssive oil consumption
pan gasket on bottom of intake manifold may be leaking internally and causing oil consumption..remove air cleaner housing and open throttle plates and look for oil pooling inside manifold..if so..intakw ill have to be removed and all gaskets replaced

take it to an auto zone or advanced tell then you want a code check they usely do it for free the use a code machine that hooks to th PIN harness under the dash they can read the code and tell you what the sensiors are saying about the engine and other related systems
