My friend has a 2000 Lexus ES. The battery went dead, was replaced, but still continued to go dead/not hold a charge. The mechanic replaced the battery, but the car continues to have problems - randomly just not starting and needing to be jumped. The car responds quickly to a jump start.

SOURCE: My 93 Lexus ES 300 has miss while idling.

the ignition coil is very easy to replace it would be located on the side of the car chasis next to the engine and would have one cable coming from it with a couple of wires leading to it that would affect the acceleration to a certain degree

SOURCE: My lexus ES 300 (97) wont start. When I tried to

your battery is dead!! Even if jumped, if the battery is dead celled it will not have sufficient power to crank. Dead celled batteries will hold a charge momentarily then slowly die again. I recommend temporarily swapping a battery from another vehicle to try and start your ES300. This is to make sure it isnt the starter or alternator thats the problem. To test the alternator, use a voltmeter at the battery terminals (w/car started and running) to check voltage should be (13.5-14.5 volts). If you do not have a voltmeter,(old school way) simply start the car, while engine running pull the positive terminal off the battery(make sure NOT to ground the positive terminal). If the vehicle dies, possible alternator or alt circuit failure. Bring it to autozone or advance auto to test for free. Hopefully this helps...please rate...thanks

Battery light on and battery does not hold charge

The battery light comes on when there is a problem with the charging system. More than likely the alternator is no longer supplying charging voltage to the battery. This would explain the battery going dead and the battery light. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

My lexus E350 battery goes dead if car is not used for a week. Had the battery checked with dealer says it is OK

This has happened to me TWICE in the past 4 months. I had Lexus road side service come out both times to check the car out. Each time the battery was totally dead. The road side mechanic said that if the car is not driven at least 15 minutes nonstop a day, the battery runs dead as there are so many draws from the car on the battery. If you do alot of stop and start driving like I do, that isn't enough to recharge the cell of the battery, it must be non stop driving time. Recommend that I get a 1.5 tricky charge device an hook to battery at least one night a week to keep the battery charged. This is really frustrating with such a new car. I've spoken to other owners of other model luxury cars and no one has had this problem.

Vehicle was parked and not started for 2 months.

Hi, there will be diodes in the generator that are letting the power from the battery drain away through the parked times when not in use. to prove it charge the battery- then disconnect the negative terminal on the battery, connect 24 hours later and see if the battery as kept it charge, if so - fit new alternator, good luck.
