Car died going down road...code said crank sensor..we replaced that, and the car started and ran fine for about 10 min...then died again...will either not start at all, or will start(turnover) and then immediately die again...if it sits for a few hours, it will start again, and drive fine..sometimes across town, sometimes just a few blocks, and will do the same thing....HELP!!!

SOURCE: 2000 kia sportage new heater core no heat

You most likely have air in the cooling system. You would need to bleed the cooling system of air. There should have bleed screws near water neck,or thermostat.Do this cold.Remove the radiator cap and fill full. Then start the engine and loosen the screws and watch for nothing but coolant to flow out(no air or bubbles). When you are sure the air is gone out of the cooling system, shut the bleeder screw off,and fill radiator up and test to see that engine runs cool, and you have heat at all speeds and rpm s.The electric cooling fan should come on at a tempuratue of about 215 or so.But just as important, the cooling fan should cut off at a lower tempurature. If the cooling fan does not do this, you still have air in the system. If you can not get the air out this way, then do this.Remove the radiator cap and reservoir cap and fill them both up full. The reservoir needs to be over the fill mark a good deal.Replace the caps.Start the engine with ac and heat off.Let it run until the engine gets to about 212 or 215 degrees and shut the engine off.Wait about 30 minutes and check the reservoir to see if the coolant has dropped. It should have dropped. If the reservoir has dropped or not ,do this again and again untill the reservoir drops in coolant level, and engine temp is good(fan goes on and goes off).Remember to refill the reservoir as needed as it drops, not to run out of coolant.

SOURCE: How to replace fuel pump on 200? Kia Sportage.

I would advise you to go to a mechanic to fix it, but if you dont want that option. Go to a auto parts store and find a complete teardown manual for your vechicle. It will give you the instructions you need, but when you pull the fuel pump out it will most likely break you fuel level guage. It can to done if you want to avoid the guage problem replace the gas tank. This general a guide to removing the fuel pump. 1Disconnect the battery cables.2 You will mostly likely to have to jack up you suv to remove the tank. 3 Mostly likely you will have to remove a wheel or possibly move to get the tank out.4 Make sure you label the in and out lines for the fuel pump. If you mess that up it wiil be bad. Usually the tank is held by some sort of hanging system. Just varies car to car. When you get the tank off BE VERY CAREFUL it can cause an explosion. You will have to remove the retaining ring from the top of the gas tank. Like said danngrous and remove all the gas from your tank before you do anything. When you get the ring off the fuel pump will come out. I suggest gloves it gets messy at this part. Remove the fuel lines. Take the fuel pump out its housing put the new fuel pump in the old housing and replace the fuel strainer. Your gas tank may need cleaning. I forget what you need to do that with, but its easy to findout the chemical. After you put the fuel pump back in its just a process fo reverse of everything you did.

2001 Kia Sportage goes dead while driving plus gas spews out when refueling

Need a little more info: Is it a V-6? Does it just die at random times? Kia has had problems with crank shaft position sensors. The vehicle will just die and may restart immediately or take several minutes till it will restart.

2000 grand cherokee just dies going down the road. no warning no fault codes.what are the possible causes

no stumbling first? sounds ignition related check all the plug ins on ign system I assume it always starts right back up ok? sounds like either crank or cam sensor,if I had to guess it would be crank first but next time it dies try restarting right away without shutting key off first and let the engine crank for about 30-40 sec if it don;t start it should set a dtc which will tell you either crank or cam sensor but it will start happening more often until one day it just wont restart again.

2000 kia sportage. no start no spark no injector pulse.

check both of your fuse panels for a blown fuse. there's 4-5 that control the fuel pump, engine sensors, fuel injectors and such. one of those may be blown and not letting the rest of the system function. one panel is located under hood, and one is under the dash on drivers side. when you take the covers off they have the fuses numbered and tell what they control.

Car will start but dies after about 10 minutes. Will restart after about 5 minutes but dies again after running a minute. Replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, attempted to clear codes by disconnecting battery,...

Check and see if you have spark when it won't start. If it don't check the ignition module, Coil Packs,Crank and Cam Sensors. See if that gets in the right direction and let me know if not get back we will see if there is some more things we can look at. Ok thanks Bear001
