In your case cut the cable back from the handle then strip away some of the outer cable until you can get a grip on the inner cable with a pair of vice grips or pliers and pull like hell. Don't worry about supporting outer cable.

Hood cable broke on a 1993 chevy caprice . And now when i use pliers of any type it acts like its in a bind or stuck and will not pop open . Is there a way to open hood from out side the car ? Any help...

You can see where the cable goes from under the car. You can apply some pressure to the hood and release it with your fingers. This is such a pain in the ****. the cable usually costs around $30.00 And is not hard to replace.

Take a flashlight and observe the latch, under the hood, and try to find what exactly is catching on what. Use a flat head screwdriver to pry away whatever is catching, and open your hood.

The hood release handle on my 1978 Corvette broke. Is there an emergency hood release cable on the car? And if so, where is it?

I don't think there is an emergency hood release cable, However, a body shop may know a trick to getting it open for you without damaging anything.

Can't open hood - Broken release cable

You have to gain access from underneath with a socket wrench and long extensions to take off the top part of the release that is mounted to the underneath of the hood.

I would assume that the plastic handle broke from the cable? If so, try grabbing on the end of the cable with a pair of locking pliers. Latch onto the cable and hold the casing, then pull really hard. It should pop the hood. After you get the hood open, replace that cable, or if possible, leave the vice grips on it until you can get it to a shop to get it replaced.

you should be able to unscrew the hood latch release from the interior of the car and take the cable loose so you can pull the cable out more also once it is released put it back together and adjust the release from the front of the car should be three bolts.

if it broke with hood open its not going to be hard to replace it.first you go to auto parts place or dealership buy the cable feed it through the floor board to the hood where cable goes. if hood cable broke with hood down its going to be hard to see or get to the hood open mechanism.through the radiator open under neath the front bumper.

The plastic ring to pop the hood on a ford taurus broke .

grab a pair of good needle nose pliers, and pull the cable with the pliers, should open the hood...while pulling have someont tap on the hood at the same time.

Most likely broke and the handle hopfully, grab the cable housing there may be a bit of cable left if so get a pair of vice grips or pliers and pull the cable if not there follow cable best you can

Use a very long pair of needle nosed pliers and, a flashlight
locate either the cable and, pull it if it broke inside the cab or,
if the hood is locked twist the safety lever under the hood in the direction the cable would normally pull it to release.
