2004 ford taurus idles ruff and no pickup engine light comes on,i can reset the engine light but it still come back on any help.

Car will not idle, jerks foward while stopped in traffic. also will not go up hills, wihout losing power,any small incline. was going down road fine, now it is even bogging down on flat highway travel. Have changed fuel filter and coil box.

I have the same issue... cross your fingers that it is just a coil pack....... it turns out i have a cylinder that is dead....the only fix is a new motor.......i was told this is common with the ford taurus engine........... good luck

Best thing to do is take it to Auto zone or a parts store that will read the codes. Sounds like you have a bad coil pack on one or more of the spark plugs. Getting the codes will pin point the problem.

Oil pressure is not just dependant on oil level. Blocked oil channels, blocked oil pickup, worn crank and connecting rod bearings or a worn oil pump can affect oil pressure. Old dirty oil can also cause issues.

2003 Ford Taurus with code P0316 only
Code 316 means the engine computer has detected a miss-fire on startup. You normally get a code for the cylinder causing the problem.
If the spark plugs are original, I would start with checking them for signs of damage or excessive wear.

How does it idle in park , does it run ruff or smooth? Are any lights lit on the dash , check engine etc. ? Could have a partially plugged IAC air passage .idle air control (IAC) valve ! The engine computer uses the IAC to control idle , when under a load such as when put into gear the computer raises the idle ! It does this by allowing more air to by pass the closed throttle into the engine raising the idle ! If these air passages clog they restrict the air flow an cause a idle problem ! 2004 ford escape, check engine light was blinking and after a driving cycle the light is solid. The idle is noticably rougher.
My ford escape is a 6 and runs ruff idling and the check engine light is flashing. This just came on after not driving the truck for a day and the day that i drove it, it was raining all day. Any thoughts here?

Yes and the way it runs.
Disconnect and plug the vacuum lines to the EGR, and see if you still have idle and driveability issues. If not replace the Valve.

Ruff idle on my 2001 for taurus. At higher rpms it runs fine.
It is most likely you wheel alignment (costs about 20 bucks to have your wheels aligned) or try checking the tire Pressure to make sure they're all even maybe hope this helps

96 ford taurus ran fine yesterday go on 25 mile trip half way through trip engine runs ruff. Like miss firing just changed plugs about two weeks ago it idles ruff but runs doesnt stall at all. baffeled
sounds like spark plugs or spark plug cables are bad and it is in fact misfiring this happened to me in my car and my spark plug cables were bad
