Your thermostat may be staying closed, if the top coolant hose becomes hot after the engine running for a while, then thermostat is opening ok. Next check to see if the bottom hose going to the rad is getting warm. If its staying cold then you may have a problem with the water pump not circulating the water around the cooling system. If thats ok check the rad cap is sealing ok. when the engine gets up to normal engine temperture remove the reservoir top filling cap which has a rubber pipe going to the thermostat housing. with the engine running there should be no water coming down the pipe and exiting the filler cap. If there is it could be the rad cap not holding pressure which it would need to be replaced or the head gasket is leaking and pressurising the coolant system.. hope this helps you..
The above instructions are not helping. I have removed the thermostat. I have changed the radiator cap. the water pump is okey and no water is coming out of the reserval filling tube.
Let me explain how this problem started. My timing belt got cut. When I opened the cylinder head I found that the valves were broken, the valve guides were also broken, the seams were bent and the cylinder head was warped slightly. I had the cylinder head skimmed, new valve guides replace, new valves fitted and new seams fitted. All these were done by professional fitters. My job was just to replace the cylinder head on the Engine block. first I used a new cylinder head gasket but the heating was there. Then I decided to replace the cylinder head gasket with the old one which was there before the cutting of the timing belt. Still I experience the heating, which was going up to half the gauge. I would like this reading to drop down to the way it was before the cutting of the timing belt. Please advise me again.

did i read you right, you put on the old gasket????? ALWAYS FIT A NEW GASKET.......
NOW,you say the guage is reading 1/2 way, whats WRONG with that ,if you not OVERHEATING,maybe you had an overcooling before.........and if your guage is reading higher than it was but your not loosing water or power,WHATS THE PROBLEM........please read your question to yourself, then have a think.......

This can be due to ur cylinder head being too damaged by the time it was skimmed,Cylinder head gasket replaced was not of genuine quality, also check if the thermostat is working properly and the radiator is clean,as in the water flow is good.If not try flushing the Radiator.

Ondo the clip on the highest hot hose and vent any air from system.
engine should be hot.(this should be done first before any remedial work undertaken,if needed)
