My cargo cover has somehow lost its automatic roll up tension

2002 Hyundai Sante Fe. The cargo cover just seemed to come out a few inches farther than usual and then it had no tension to pull itself back into the bar that holds it in place. There was no noise or snapping as if something internal had broken. Can it be taken apart and rewound to make it functional again?

SOURCE: Hyundai 2005 Sante Fe Trunk lock will not open

hello ,If its the rear hach handle you are talking it is due to rust build up on the spring behind the handle. The only way to fix is to get a new handle it will come with the spring and all. Make sure if you do get this handle and you get it painted to match your paint that the body shop does not take it apart to paint cause it is really hard to get the spring back in and thay may brake it on you.

SOURCE: how much does it cost to replace a fuel pump on 04

fuel pumps are kindda expensive, especially on import vehicles. Number one cause for fuel pump failures is heat. When your rinding with the fuel below half, the pump is party exposed inside the fuel tank and when exposed for periods of time it tends to heat up and then gradually burns out cause you to replace it. It's ok to go below half but not to often, I hope it helped abit.

SOURCE: Hyundai Sante FE starting problems

You need to check the pulse coming from the crank sensor preferably using an osiliscope.
The sensor may have been damaged when re-installing the transmission.

2002 hyundai sante fe cvt transmission problems

As far as I know the 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe did NOT have a CVT transmission, rather a 4 speed automatic. Mine went well over 300,000 miles (see photo) with original trans and engine.

2004 Hyundai Sante Fe after quick or short runs car will not fire just rolls over fuel pump sounds like its running. Wait half to three quarters of an hour will fire up perfectly and run smoothly has...

If spraying inside the throttle body helps it sounds like a fuel issue. ECM/PCM , ignition module, cam or crank sensors can cause this according to system setup . Does it have spark at all during the no start episodes .

Repair hyundai Santa Fe Retractable Cargo Cover

My answer is based on a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe. I needed a vise grip to use for some fine pulling and a little bit of hammering, and a 1/8 drill bit (no drill required). These cargo covers are not riveted, there is just a little hollow metal tube about 1 inch long and 1/8 in wide.

So roll the cover up to make it more convenient. Use the 1/8 drill bit to push the metal pins (see pic) and just push the pins out at either end.

Once the pins are out, slide the plastic covers off. They come off with little to no resistance. There is an aluminum rod with three foam pieces on one end to make rolling smooth, and the other end has a long spring with one end attached to the rod and the other end connects to these little white circle plastic discs that hold the other end of the spring. More than likely the plastic failed, as was my case.Holding a metal spring taut with a plastic isn't the best idea but it saved a few pennies off the MSRP so be it. Since these discs were used on both ends, just switch the plastic discs and installation is truly the reverse of the removal. The car is 10 yrs old now so I figure I won't be the owner of it when this piece fails again.

The only difficulty I encountered was a rubber covering on the shaft under the spring that bunched up. I had to pull the spring partially off the shaft and cut some bunched off rubber off.
