The fuel pump not working in your 2005 PT Cruiser and the absence of a "fuel pump fuse" on the dashboard could be caused by a few different issues.
Blown Fuse: If the fuel pump fuse has blown, it will need to be replaced in order to restore power to the fuel pump. The fuse box in a 2005 PT Cruiser is typically located under the hood, on the driver's side.
Fuel Pump Relay: The fuel pump relay controls the power to the fuel pump. If the relay has failed, the fuel pump will not receive power and the engine will not start. The relay is usually located in the power distribution center or the engine compartment fuse box.
Fuel Pump: If the fuel pump itself has failed, it will need to be replaced. The fuel pump is typically located in the fuel tank.
Wiring Issues: Wiring problems can also cause the fuel pump to stop working. If the wiring has been damaged or is corroded, it will need to be repaired or replaced in order to restore power to the fuel pump.
If you are not comfortable diagnosing and fixing the issue yourself, I would recommend taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic. They will be able to diagnose the problem and make the necessary repairs.
The fuel pump fuse gets its power from the fuel pump relay, which is located in the Instrument Panel Junction Block.
The fuel pump relay gets its ground from G102, which is located just forward of the left strut tower.
The fuel pump relay gets its power from the Powertrain Control Module Connector "C" Pin 10 ( DARK GREEN/ WHITE wire) for the primary side of the relay.
The sencondary side (the side that provides power to the fuel pump fuse) of the fuel pump relay gets its power from the IP BATT Fuse (30 Amp) HOT AT ALL TIMES in the underhood fuse block.
This should be enough information to figure out why your fuel pump is not getting power. Let me know what you find.
Hello abzalkhan193
Heres a few things to check that could cut power to the fuel pump. The fuel pump inertia shutoff sw
in the trunk on the left side, there is a reset button on the switch if you push the button down and
you hear/feel a click then the switch was tripped and you just reset it. The switch's job is to cut off
the fuel in case of an accident. Next, the fuel pump fuse located in the battery fuse block under the
hood on the right fender well, fuse #1 20amp fuse. Next, the fuel pump relay, the relay is located in
relay center on the left fender well. Hope this is helpful.
The fuel injectors receive their power from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Power Relay which is located in the Engine Compartment Fuse Box. This circuit is protected by Fuse "I" (20 Amp), also located in the Engine Compartment Fuse Box. If you blew a fuse, this would be the one.
The fuel pump, however, is a totally different circuit. (although it is controlled by the PCM which will not work if the fuse above is blown) The fuel pump gets its power from the fuel pump relay which is protected by Fuse "O" (20 Amp) in the Engine Compartment Relay Box.
The relay and fuse for the fuel pump are located in the engine compartment
near the battery.
Fuse #9 20A* Powers Fuel Pump Relay
The relay is marked "Fuel Pump Relay" use the box lid to ID the relay position
Hi....
Fuel PUMP fuse and relay is located in the Engine compartment
Fused block . Driver side. under the hood.
The Fuel pump relay Is labeled F/Pump.
And the Fuel Pump Fuse is labeled ECMB ( 20 amp.)
The ground for the fuel pump is located At left rear Frame rail.
Some times the Fuel pump harnes connector burn with the old pump.
Check the connector....
OK.. I hope this help on your question.
Thank you for use fixya..
The fuel pump relay is located Under hood, driver side, upper firewall, mounted in
relay block.
The fuse is located under the instrument panel to the left of the steering column.
The fuse block should be visible from underneath the steering column,
near the pedal bracket. If the panel is not visible, check for a
removable compartment door or trim panel which may be used on later
models to hide the block.
There is no fuse specifically dedicated to the fuel pump on this year and model of Suburban. This Suburban is equipped with dual tanks and as such has two relay switches, primary and secondary, both of which are located at the main fuse box in the engine bay, that power up the respective fuel pumps.
The closest fuse (15A) controlling either of these relays also powers up the main control module (located beside and below the main fuse box). So, if one needs to disconnect the fuel pumps from functioning, then the only effective method is to disconnect the fuel pump relays.
There is both a fuse and a relay for the fuel pumps electrical system. The image below of the Power Distribution Box is located in the engine compartment.
