I don't know about your Mitsubishi but generally windscreen trim is laid loose around the screen and theoretically can be reused. In practice the windscreen adhesive bead usually spreads and catches the trim in places effectively placing an element of doubt over the fact.
If a new trim isn't readily available or is prohibitively expensive, as long as care is taken to leave the visible part undamaged when cutting out the old screen or removing the trim the windscreen adhesive is so good it will bond even damaged trim and can be held securely.

One problem with reusing trim is when attempting to refit it will often be found to be too short. Contaminants from the atmosphere and UV exposure does tend to alter the properties of plastic. Once the trim has been removed shrinkage can sometimes be severe and rapid.

Windscreen water leaks should be none-existent with bonded screens but when windscreens must be replaced the fitters usually manage to scratch the paintwork in the screen recess and have no time or will to repaint. The adhesive bead rarely covers the exposed steel and as the trim is not designed to keep water out rust soon begins to attack and eventually destroys part of the windscreen bond and even sometimes eats through the steel into the windscreen pillar or roof.

Is the water only in footwell behind driver seat? If yes, then have you checked the weather stripping around rear door (assuming that it is 4 doors)? My brother had the same problem, and behold it was the stripping around the door. If you find that is the cause, standard household weather stripping added to door frame will work well.

You can buy a can of stop leak for power steering but I have had limited success using this. It would be the cheapest route to go to see if it will work.

Check the seal around the windshield for splits or breaks. If you bring it to a local glass shop they may be able to assist you with that.

I would look take off the front bumper wrap and see if there is a leak somewhere in the plumbing to the headlight washers, etc. I had this problem.

I had the same problem. Take note of black plastic trim piece that runs along the bottom of the windshield. On the passenger side there is a pan type attachment to this piece of trim; it can become detached from the trim. In this case it needs to be positioned under the lower lip of the windshield.

UNDO THE SCREWS FOR THE GLOVEBOX LIFT OUT THE WAY AND ON YOUR RIGHT HANDSIDE YOU WILL SEE 3 AIR DISTRIBUTION FLAP MOTORS ,THE ONE FOR THE WINDSCREEN IS THE NEAREST TO THE BULKHEAD. YOU CAN TEST THE BLOWERS AND YOU WILL SEE THE MOTOR VENTS WORKING OR THE ONE NOT WORKING IN YOUR CASE ..
