Indeed - NO HOSE (just end of small white plastic pipe that sticks out) attached to it on my 2002 Montero XLS (3.8, manual A/C), can be reached from top of the enginge compartment (driver's side - central line on the firewall). Just below it runs a black middle size hose (not attached to firewall). The water comming out of a drain hits the mentioned hose.
It can be seen only with a help of additional light just below 2 transversal hoses/pipes that go along the firewall. Little WHITE plastic pipe end just below those two piper. There is just a few milimeter space over thos two transveral sttel-pipes to see the (white) drain below them.
To access it with more comfort You need to disconnect 2 harnesses/cable for (not) easy hand access... You can (barely !) reach it with a middle (!) finger but no much space to operate any tool there.
So use a firm stiff steel wire (I used wire from a cloth hanger) a bit rounded at the end to access it remotelly and then push/pull a few times until you see water comming out.
You need a blanket to lay down on the engine to reach this. The engine must be cold otherwihise You WILL burn Your hand.
The stiff steel wire can be leaved there (like a dip-stick) for futher non-problematic access re-dos. :-)

Why does water leak inside the passenger side of my 2001 mitsubishi montero from my air conditioner?

your a/c evaporator drain is stopped up or blocked off can be seen at firewall area on passenger side looks like a short black hose coming out of firewall and turns down with nothing hooked to it if this gets restricted the blackbox under your dash fills with water and eventually leaks in floor you can try and run small piece of wire up hose to unstop but be careful not to punchure evaporator core

Can you tell me where the ac evaporator drain is on a 2002 mitsubishi montero ltd is? I have moisture dripping from the evaporator case inside the vehicle and suspect external drain is plugged, but cant...

Look right under the evap box, exactly where the ac lines go in the fire wall,it might even have a drip boot on it,it will come out of the fire wall, and turn down, the end will be sort of mashed together to keep out debris.

Thermostat montero sport?

It should be found at the bottom hose that goes to the bottom of the radiator and located towards the engine block. You should be able to see a plug and wires coming out of it.
