My chevrolet c1500 v6 vortec will not crank. I thought it may be fuel related so I took off the filter and discovered that it doesnt even pump from the tank to the filter. When I turn the key on I do not hear the pump even "hum". Could it be a relay or do u think the pump may be out?

Hello Johnholley
I am wondering do you hear the fuel pump when you just turn the key into the on run position not crank just in run and listen and see if you hear the fuel pump run for a second, If you don't hear it you will want to check for power at the fuel tank, and have some one cycle the key while your under the truck with a test light. Hopefully you have power and you hear the fuel pump run. Now if you do hear the fuel pump running then the next thing you will want to check is for spark, It could be the ignition module or pickup coil. check out those thing and I am sure you will be able to figure out whats going on. If you don't get back to me and we can try a few other methods. I sure hope that helps you out johnholley. and thanks for using Fix Ya Bear001

Your ECU is what acctivates your fuel pump realy. Put the key on the run possition and pull the ecu fuse for a few seconds and reinstall it ans it should accivate your realy for 5 seconds, Good luck.

Check the wire harness to the Ignition control module (ICM) or replace it. It cost around $40,00 from Auto Zone and it's common for the ICM to fail, or it may just be starting to fail and it's also know that the OEM distributor had a screen vent at the bottom of the distributor for ventilation to prevent condensation from forming in the distributor. Check to make sure your new distributor has a vent and that it's not plugged up with shipping plastic. Condensation may be forming causing the misfire in the distributor. Good luck and keep me posted.
