2000 Ford Taurus -When car is cold , trans will not up-shift .Once trans shifts one time it works fine Letting car warm up sometimes helps, but not always. When trans is in no shift condition, speedometer does not register. Is first gear governor controlled then shift points decided by computor . Is there a servo that could be sticking in cold condition?

SOURCE: my 1997 ford taurus transmission slips when it shifts to second

this is caused by a piston in the transmission that has a crack in it once it warms up the crack seals and operates normally.being cold the crack opens up allowing fluid to flow past it. take to trans shop as soon as you can, will be minimum repair if it has not caused further damage in the transmission.

SOURCE: 1998 ford taurus will not shift into 4th gear

gear selector may need adjusted, or a solenoid in the transmission is malfunctioning.best to take to a trans shop and have a diagnostic ran on it.

SOURCE: How many teeth on the

Depends on what gear is in the rear end and what size tire. Do you have old gear? They are color coded and have the teeth number on it. You will have to pull it.

I have a 2000 Ford Explorer standard...when it gets cold outside it will not shift into any gear...if I let the truck warm up its fine ...I have had no problems all summer long but last winter did the same...

Dirty fluid, clogged trans filter, Torque converter dirty. Shift solenoid sticking.

Taking the trans pan off and working on the filter and refilling the system would likely help.

2002 ford Taurus tcc transaxle code I replaced it but trans is still making noise and loses gears sometimes shifts fine when it catches usually when it warm any ideas? Thanks

what trouble code you getting if you are getting code p1700 transmission system malfunction.could have internal transmission failure noise you hear could be transmission oil pump or torque converter failure, either one will cause transmission shift problems.

94 tauras AT once warmed up trans will drop out gear at a stop

This is a common problem. You have a cracked forward clutch piston. Ford made this part out of aluminum. The replacements are steel. But you have to disassemble the transmission to install it. ( I know you said Rev too, In the AXODE trans, the forward clutch is on in 1st and reverse)

2000 jeep grand cherokee laredo hesitates in 2nd gear when cold

Is it manual or auto trans? If manual the gear lube is thicker when cold and the syncronizers tend to stick and not slide free for grind free shifting or for locking into gear.
If Auto trans if the jeep is warmed up setting then cycle the gears before driving. If that helps then the fluid is not getting through the valve body properly. It could be metal in the body or filter or cold seals are letting fluid by til the seals warm, expand and hold pressure. I'm assuming trans fluid is good, not old. One item that can lead to poor cold shift in an auto trans is a bad torque convertor. Since it seems to be a second gear issue the second section of the trans could have a bad seal. In an auto trans I'd take to a shop and have a cold pressure test done. They will tell which one is the problem.

1996 Ford Tuarus

You really have to think a bit about when those sometimes are. Is it only when the engine is already warmed up? Is it only when the engine is cold? If you have a tach on the dash, what is the real high idle speed of the engine? How many rpms? Does the transmission shift hard or smoothly?
