Its telling you there's something wrong Tom!!
Look under the hood and do your drivers checks. Is there water in the rad header tank?
Is there oil in the engine?
Is the fan belt in good condition and tight?
When it runs is fluid dripping underneath?
When was it last serviced?
code P0128 :say that the engine is not running normal temp.but less.how the pcm can say that . it's receiving info from coolant sensor. 2things one the coolant sensor is telling the right temp. or the thermostat don't. Change thermostat and see if it change the condition.
You have a real auto repair shop ( not auto parts store) look at stored codes, & any freeze frame data Do not clear the dash light or you loose data & ability to diagnose & resolve the issue
when the service engine soon light is illuminated in your vehicle, it means that the on board self diagnostic system has detected a fault either in the engine, transmission, or accessory controls. when this light is illuminated, it means that there is a code stored in the vehicle memory which can be extracted with a code reader. any garage should be able to do this for you. good luck!
The loose gas cap is a quick and easy check to perform, so try that first. The service engine light will remain on until the next "cold" start.
I would also recommend visiting your local Auto Zone and ask them to scan your car for trouble codes. They offer this service free of charge, write the codes down and respond back, I can let you know what they are and mean if you decide to have a technician fix the issue.
Good luck, let me know.
Regards,
check engine light comes on when ecm detects a problem when information is out of spec.from 1 or more sensors.have ecm scan for problem code!depending on problem, sometimes ecm has bypass mode for some sensors, car will drive ok,or run little rough.but its up to u,if u don t feel safe dont drive it.oil pressure will vary with engine rpm,eng.temp.also,as long the gauges are in the good operating range!hope i could help!
code p 1870 refers to transmission component slipping
That can be from dirty oil or a clutch pack or band slipping or low oil pump pressure in the transmission
you say that it occurs on highway driving after 2 hours and that slipping will add friction heat to the transmission oil bringing on the oil temp light
take it to an accredited transmission professional service center that works on your make of vehicle , have the oil changed which require the pan removal
at the same time that will allow the adjustments to be done
when reassembled and refilled , have a pump pressure test done
