SOURCE: RAM 1500 OBD CODE p0700/p0740

I had the same problem and a friend suggested that I get a filter kit for the transmission. My dodge ram 1500 stopped pulling and had to be towed home. I got a filter kit for the transmission and now the truck is runniing good again and the transmission is shifting ok.To get the code off by going to
Auto Advance and used their code reader to erase the code. My truck has 249K on it and I know the trans will not last forever, but as long as it is running ok. I will live with the codes but make sure the trans fluids are changed every 10k.

SOURCE: 1991 Chevy Lumina 3.1 Sedan Starting/Dying Problems

Ok this was all after the car was all warmed up how far can you go from a cold start until it "dies:?
I want to suspect a crank sensor or ignition module just because of the symptoms if nothing happens until the egine gets hot ,typical of a failing crank sensor andignition module, always replace them togother.
But there is one more culprit, the catalytic Converter, see they break up inside and over time the catalyist bounces around and becomes a ball, on acceleration the presssure of the exhaust pushes the "ball' of caytlist into the exhaust pipe opening restricting it until it shuts off the car. You pull over the pressure goes away the "ball" falls back into the cat, you start again and it starts all over again. I would hve the cat tested and you can do a test yourself hit the cat on the bottom with a hammer and if you hear some rattling inside when you hit it yhe catalist is broken and is likely your problem.

How to remove a gear box 97 GMC Chevy 4 wheel

Drain the transmission and T case. Remove the drive shafts. Jack the transmission up just a bit and remove the mount nuts and remove the cross member. lower it, remove the T case and any linkage and connectors going to it. You may have to remove the exhaust to have room to get the transmission out. Remove the starter, remove the torque converter bolts through the starter hole. Disconnect linkage and any other connectors going to the transmission, disconnect the cooler lines. Remove any brackets holding the transmission to the engine. remove the transmission bell bolts. Pull back a couple inches and drop the transmission. 4 hour job on a lift, 8 on the ground. 2 or 3 days if it your first time.

4wd is stuck in 4low was going to try to disconnect the 4wd so i could get it back to 2wheel to be able to drive it how do i do this

Its a vacuum opperated system. There is a vacuum line on the transmission but ufrortantly the transmission will not work correctly with this disconnected. That controls what is called an actuator its a vacuum moter its located under the battery tray and this pulls on the cable that makes it shift in and out of 4 wheel drive.Try disconnecting the cable at the actuator and pulling back away from the engine this may pull part # 9 the carrier conector out of the out put shaft part # 23 and disengage the 4 wheel so you can drive in 2 wheel with no side affects although you would have to replace # 9 or # 23 or bolth to make the 4 wheel work again but then again if you do this it may workthe gears just got bound up and it might work but i wouldn't push my luck with it until it was apart and could inspect the parts.

97 Chevy Suburban - Should I replace my transmission?

You are your own best judge on that, i got a 95 silverado with 160,000 mi. and would not think twice about driving and pulling anything across the country, but one thing i would recamend (if it dosent have one already) is an external trans. cooler.

4x4 works sometimes. shifts transmission into nuetral by itself.

Sounds like the electronic switch or plunger is going out.

96 CHEVY CAVALIER. R&R DRIVE AXLE SHAFTS. AUTO TRANS.

If your looking to replace them, wich is what most do today, it is cheaper to purchase a axle with new cv joints than to rebuild them. It is a very simple job in todays cars, remove tires remove lower tie rod , remove nut in center of the rotor and pull wheel assembley to the side hanging from the strut, pull axle out replace the transmission seal, push new axle in. When putting wheel assembley on, use a hydraulic jack on bottom of the rotor to push it to the axle splines and put the new nut on .

95 chevy blazer 4wheel drive problem

I now these trucks pretty well, I own 2, a 2000 two door and a 95 4 door and before them I owned a 88 and an 87, so look I suggest you use 4 hi but in low geer(1st geer) and just let it grab by itself, cause I find first thing it's hard getting into 4 low cause you must be in neutral, and I usually engage it with only the ignition on without actually running the truck to make sure it actually engages, we get a lot of snow up here so I'm letting experience speak for itself, hope it helps...

goodluck...

4 wheel drive stopped working

the light is on.........let's see, where you having problems with clunking noises in the front, now or before when or not in 4 wheel drive? If so sounds like cv/axle shats/joints. Last time you used 4 wheel, was there a big clunk, just once? Is there an ocasional clunk when going over bumps? If so, sounds like Ujoint. I don't belive chevys use vaccum for 4 wheel drives systems at all.
