If the blend door isn't moving then you've got a wiring harness or control head issue.,

Sounds like your temperature actuator is not moving or your temp door is broken. On max a-c ,coolant is shut off to your heater core allowing only cold air in.

SOURCE: how to replace blend door actuator in a ford

I recently did mine, I hear you can do it without taking the entire dash apart but I had no luck with it myself. I have to get ready for work but, on mine it was located down and to the left of the radio. its a white box...are you hearing a clicking noise or something? I had to roll the entire dash back and it was still a major pain getting it out.

You hot air comes from the water circulated through the heater core. It is like a miniture radiator with water flowing thru it constantly. So by opening the "Blend Door" you are permitting so much of this hot air to pass thru.

Seems like for some reason your heater core is plugged up. Just like a radiator can be. So water may be passing through your heater core but not passing through fully. Your heater core gets hot from water passing throught it from the engine. Then your doors open up, in proportion to how much air is permitted to pass over the heater core.

Suggest to remove the heater core and replace it. Seems the blend doors are working properly but again, if you have a non working heater core then no air can pass over the "Hot Core" for you to recieve hot air.

If you are not mechanically inclined, then go to a local parts store and you can buy a car manual, such as Chilton's or Hane's Car manuals, for your year and make to show you how to replace it. Then you can also have it for any other problems that may arise.

that clicking noise you hear is likely a relay in the fuse panel that needs to be replaced. the easiest way to find out which relay it is would be to put you finger on each relay as you actuate the device not working. once you locate the clicking relay replace it . to reset the computer just unhook the battery for about ten minutes. if you have an anti theft radio make sure you know the code for it and how to enter it before you unhook the battery.

No heat or defrost in my 2000 mercury sable

If you are referring to the air won't blow through the defrost vents or on the floor, you may have a stuck or broken blend door actuator. This part diverts air through the different settings: defrost, vent, floor etc. If you aren't getting warm or hot air regardless of the settings, you may either be low on coolant or have a bad thermostat.

Can a belt be purchased to by-pass the air conditioning pump in a 2000 mercury sable? the pump is bad and I don't want to use the AC anyhow.

no they did not use a different belt, there is a bypass pulley where the AC pump sets now, just order the AC delete
pulley, not very expensive, u will need to remove the old pump. You can also go to the link to buy the pulley you need.

Air conditioning doesn't work. only blows out hot air

Check and see if the clutch on the front of your compressor engages. If not it could have a leak and not have any freon in it. If it has freon then you have an electrical malfunction on the ac system.

AC blows hot air but AC compressor works

if the compressor works and your freon is charged it may be the blower flapper door....disconnect battery for 10 minutes and then re-connect to reset the electronics that control the flapper
