Having a electrical problem with my 2003 Excursion 6.0 Liter Diesel. I have one fuse in under dash panel that seems to be loose. This fuse controls dash gauges, speedo, tach, readio, interior lights, alarm windows .... just about everything. When wiggled in the socket, it makes contact and comes back on. Seems like the connector in back is loose or something. Fuse is good, doesn't blow. this condition is intermitent but shows up more often in extreme cold or extreme heat.

What is the amp rating for the fuse? The professional way would be take fuse box loose and fix it from the back.
I have heard of people using tin foil around fuse leg, to take up slack, I don't recommend that. Don't even know if it will work?
You can get an inline fuse holder from auto store, then splice into proper colors wires, bypass the fuse cavity in fuse block. It will only be hot with key on and dead with key off. You would want to strap fuse holder to something so it doesn't flop around.
Others may have a better idea. I'm just thinking out loud.

SOURCE: The gauges have stopped working ? Fuse under dash seems to be OK ?

Behind the dash is what they call a constant voltage regulator. It controls the guages. It's small and located behind the dash near speedo.

SOURCE: 2004 Excursion 6.0 diesel blows intermitent white smoke

I don't drive a Ford but I drive an International and white smoke on start up means the engine is too cold to properly burn the fuel. Your black oil or soot is unburnt fuel. You should look at your engine's preheat system for a malfunction.

Ford diesel excusion A/C won't cool

Any performance testing re auto A/C requires consistant engine revs highway revs eg 1800 exit ramp eg idle stop start 800revs leading to much reduced A/C compressor speed and therefore performance output .Also all testing its desirable to close the bonnet to control design air flow through the engine bay .Also check under dash passenger side air flow pos a filter on return air duct or something sucked up into paper etc .good luck!

check all fuses.
do you do a lot of off roading - you may have cut or pulled a wire out.
finally you may have:
1. a bad fuel tank sending unit - need to drop the tank to replace.
2. a bad fuel gage.
3. a bad instrument panel

2004 f350 4x4 6.0 diesel electrical problems

Locate the fuse box under the dash panel. Pull the fuses one at a time and inspect. They are very hard to judge if the fuse(s) are blown unless you pull them out to inspect.
