There is no emergency latch. The best way to get it open is to remove the cable from the release latch in the footwell, then use a pair of pliers to pull the cable and open the hood. You might even have to strip the cable covering back a little to get to the cable.
If parts are scarce......you can also use a short length of wire and run it out through the front grill and open it by pulling the wire. Just make it so nobody can see the wire.
A hood release works with a cable that pulls the latch open. if you have a long flat head screw-driver you can try to spring the latch itself through the front grill.
I have a similar problem with my 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. The way I open the hood is to reach my hand between the radiator and the front of the car, and for me there is a bar running right up the middle if I follew that too the top, and on the drivers side of that bar should be the hood release, and I feel around till I feel the hood release cable, and then I push on the lever that the cable is attached too, most of the time this works. Hope this helps.
There is a latch with a hood release cable connected to it. It can be reached from underneath, between the grill and radiator, or you can reach it through the grill.
