Yes, this is indicative of fuel pump failure. It will need to be replaced.

if you are somewhat mechanically inclined you should be able to follow these steps in order I put them. #1 Disconnect the negative battery terminal.#2 Disconnect the electrical terminals from the alternator.#3 Loosen the alternator adjustment and pivot bolts and remove the belt.#4 Remove the bolts and separate the alternator from the engine.#5 Remove the alternator bracket from engine.#6 Remove the fuel filter and any of the vacuum lines in the way.#7 Remove alternator from top of the car.#8 Installation is reverse of removal.

SOURCE: Idle up and down car runs 20 min then dies car wont start 92 pre

Being a retired dealer tech I can say for sure I never ever ripped anyone off ever!!!!!!!! if they say (dealer) they needed access then you did not understand what they had to do and decided they where putting it to you, you go ahead and throw parts at the problem, you may or may not get lucky, I wish you the best of luck, and you Jacko rubbed me the wrong way.

SOURCE: 1989 Honda prelude makes a clicking noise when turning

Sounds like it an outer cv joint on that side. They start making a ticking noise under load and it gets worse as time goes on. Have a shop look it.You'll need a pretty well stocked tool box if you want to do it yourself.

SOURCE: 1989 Honda Prelude won't start

I suspect that your spark plug wires or your distributor is going out. Check your spark wires and distributor. To do that take out #1 spark plug wire from the spark plug. Next take out your spark plug then put it in the spark plug wire. Then turn on car and take a look at the spark plug to see if it's getting a spark. Do this with all the spark plug. If it is your spark plug wire I would replace all of them.

SOURCE: 1989 Honda CRX won't start after a short trip.

Easy one. This is a common problem on 88-91 Civics and CRX's.Check your main relay under the drivers side dash.It provides power to the ECU,fuel pump, and injectors. Its a squarish box with a single plug going into it held on by one 10 mm bolt. The solder joints break down over time and cause the condition you're having. You can pry off the plastic cover and resolder the joints if you are handy with a soldering iron,or just ask for a main relay at Autozone, etc.

My 2001 chevy malibu had been working fine up until this afternoon it turns but wont start, itmakes ahumming noise even when i turnoff key.

That humming noise may be your fuel pump burning out. Try turning the key to the on position while someone else listens near the gas tank. The humming should only hum for a few seconds so you won't have time to listen yourself unless you can hear it from inside. If the hum continues and doesnt shut off, it is likely a bad fuel pump. It is normal to hear a small hum for a couple of seconds , but when it starts getting weak, it will hum louder, longer, or not at all

When the car is off i hear a ticking nosie by the the fuel tank. my guess is the fuel pump. i have a riugh ideal and los of power

well the fuel pump does not run when the key switch is OFF, however the ticking noise you are hearing would most likely be the HOT muffler after driving for awhile the exhaust heats up and expands then when the engine is shut off it starts cooling and shrinking and will tick and ping like crazy. as far as the rough idol and power loss it could be a number of things! is there any check engine lights on??

Noise coming from the rear end of my 2004 honda pilot it really only occurs during cold weather and after it warms up you hear it slightly

When does the noise occur, while driving only, or driving and idle, in gear, or in neutral and park? If it occurs all the time (while driving and at a stand still in cold weather) it could be the fuel pump. If it occurs only while driving, it may be a wheel bearing. Describe the noise (humming, grinding, whirring, etc), and what is the mileage on the Pilot? Answer my questions so I can fine tune my answer. Thanks!

Replaced fuel pump and filter on a 89 honda prelude and it still will not turn over any suggestions

the reason it wont start is because of the fuel pump relay is faulty.. just run a wire from the inside of your trunk from 1 of the wires on top of the tank to ur fuse box... it will always start from now on....

Ok 1989 Honda Prelude S. It starts fine,..can drive for undetermined amount of time starts to lose power sputter like its running out of gas. Pull over turn key off, sit a min or so start and go til it...

Check Fuel pressure with gauge to see pressure is not out more that 5 psi variance of spec. If initial pressure is good, Start with Vulture pump and then on to the ground on the sending unit in the tank attached to the fuel pump assembly. Easy access through the trunk. Ground wire insulation should not be brittle an cracked.Replace wire with 14 stranded THHN or wire from spare harnessing. Wire should be pliable and have good mechanical connection on the spade connector. Ensure clean connection as corrosion of dissimilar metals will invite corrosion over time.

Car wont start

If it has been sitting for 3 years it could be a number of things. First thing to try is a good tune up (plugs, wires, oil change, air filter, and fuel filter). If the plugs have fouled out they are not getting enough spark to burn the fuel. Also if the fuel itself has turned, you should try to drain the tank, this is not feasible at times and can be substituted by adding as much fresh gas as possible and a can of Octane boost/ Gas drier. SeaFoam is what I would recommend (found at your local autoparts store. If you have over half a tank of gas that has been sitting that long, you will need to find a way to drain what is in it. There are a few tricks to doing this without dropping the gas tank or sucking it out with a garden hose. Try the tune up first though.

Toy starts runs 10 seconds and stops change fuel filter now wont

When you tur the key forward do you hear the fuel pump running? You should hear a low hum for about 20 seconds near the gas tank and then it stops. If you hear this your pump is good. If it keeps running or you can't hear it at all it's bad or the main fuel pump fuse is blown.

My 1989 prelude is skippingh and sputtering

I had a similar problem. it would run great when the motor was cold until it started warming up. and then when i'd give it gas to get speed up it would act like it was either starving for gas or getting too much. I first started at the fuel injectors, pulled out the fuel filter and dumped it out, gas looked dirty so i replaced fuel filter and it didn't fix the problem, i then checked the fuel pump but it was ok. next i pulled the fuel tank and when i pulled out the pickup tube the screen at the end was clogged and their was chunks floating in the tank. Cleaned it all really well and havent had that problem since. hope this helps you
