Could be dirty cable connections to the battery. Get a wrench the right size and carefully turn the bolt on the negative battery terminal, be careful not to touch the positive terminal at the same time, or sparks will fly! Remove the terminal from the battery then remove the positive terminal. Scrape and clean the terminals and the battery posts until you get some shine on them. Re-install in reverse order and cross your fingers. Otherwise it may be a bad battery or a bad alternator not charging the battery...

Sound like you have a bad battery, take the battery to an auto parts where they can check it for you.

1993 mercury capri charges then doesn't new alternator and battery

It's best to relate symptoms to narrow things down. I assume you are still getting a dead battery when trying to start even after replacing the alternator and battery.
Get a volt meter. Harbor freight sells them ridiculously cheap (about $5). Measure the voltage at the battery terminals when the engine is running. If it is at least 13.5 volts to 15 volts then the alternator is charging correctly. If it is 12 volts then the alternator is not charging the battery.

If the alternator checks out ok, then check for things that could be draining the battery when the car is off. Usual suspect is the trunk light. Put your cell phone on video record into the trunk facing the light, then shut the trunk. If the light stays on, its because the switch in the latch mechanism is faulty. WD40 might make it work, or just pull the bulb. Also, check the glove box light the same way. Good luck...Chris

Changing front rotors

Capri rotor replacement is only done by a mechanically inclined person with tools. The rotors have the front bearings pressed in, so the rotor must be removed from the axle. Bearings must be pressed in, and preload must be adjusted for the new rotor. If you do not understand any of this then find a mechanic. Expect to pay at least $150 per rotor replacement.

An alternative is if you can find a junk yard Capri with decent rotors, then it can be installed onto your vehicle without the need for a mechanic to do bearing replacement. Keep in mind though that the junk yard Capri may have bad bearings...Good luck...Chris

I have a 1993 mercury capri convertible. I have replaced the water pump and the alternator which the vbelt sits on. The alternator belt squeaks and burns and breaks when it is on tight. I loosened it up....

Most after market replacement alternators have the wrong pulley installed...the shafts are different sizes, so you cannot even use your old pulley. Best is to have the original alternator rebuilt. Alternative is to use a heavy duty industrial belt, like a Gates...not a perfect solution, but it will help...good luck...Chris
