My car is making a whinning noise to the left of the motor. Sounds like it is in the Multi Rib Belt. The Chevrolet Dealer just had a recall on the power steering and had to replace that and a few days later this whinning noise started up. Gets louder the faster you go. We sprayed the belt but the noise is still there. What can this be?

This is probably your AC compressor clutch or, alternator pulley bearing
to see: carefully! while the engine is running; place a very long screwdriver or, a long
metal bar on the case of the engine, alternator, AC etc. and, up to your ear (like a stethoscope) to locate and, pinpoint the noise. we have "mechanic's stethoscopes"
we use at at the shop these can be purchased at any auto parts store if you can't find
the bar you need. let me know what you find out.

My 98 chevy malibu 3.1l engine makes a whinning noise when driving when sitting idling doesnt make noise just when moving. what is problem please ?

Could be power steering pump or alternator. Best way to find out is to get a a couple feet of garden hose and listen closely to each. Its most likely your power steering pump. If it is, buy a new one not rebuilt.

Isuzu Trooper V6 2001 multi rib belt replacement

They have an automatic tensioner, like a spring loaded pulley. They are usually quite easy to pull back using a power bar or spanner. For the routing diagram, click here

1995 chevy silverado making a whinning noise

Sounds like it's starving for fluid. The noise you hear is probably a clogged filter. It it's been going on for a long period of time, you may have trans damage. I would recommend changing the fluid and filter and add some Lucas trans additive. I'm not much on additives but this stuff works. Hope this helps. Phil

Engine whinning

I had the same problem on my 2005 Envoy. Turned out to be the idler pulley bearing. It is just a pulley the belt rides on. The bearing in the pulley was what was making the high pitched whine. I replaced the bearing, and the noise went away.

Belt noise

this may be a belt alignment issue, check the relative position of all the pulleys to one another, there may be a recall on this issue, contact your local dealer.
