How do I fix code P402 on the 1998 V6 3.0L Toyota Camry XLE?

That is "Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Excessive Detected". The EGR valve may be gunked up or stuck open, so remove and check that. It may also be that the VSV (vacuum switching valve ) connected to it has failed. In Toyotas these little solenoid valves sometimes fail when hot but test OK when cold.

Hole in exhaust system in front of car, car dies often and very shaky. it runs very rough and very loud. there is also something smoking under the hood but car is not over heating and all fluids are still...

if it is a 4 cyl they are known for the flex pipe breaking the only fix is unfortunely replacment as far as the smoking sounds like you have a leak onto the exhaust have the oilpan and rear main checked

My 2004 Camry xle v6 has intermittent transmission hard shift from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, regardless of hot or cold.

I would look to the motor mounts. This can cause harsh shifts and a deterioration of your flex pipe in your exhaust system.

Transmission Fluid leak (1997) Toyota camry XLE V6

There are a few places it could be leaking from, first it could be a cooling line leaking, secound if its got a detent cable it could leak from there, third it could be leaking from dip stick tube, forth oil pan could have a hole in it or gasget is leaking, fith front pump seal or rear seal could be leaking. Everything can be fixed with trans. in car except front seal witch requires trans to come out.
