My 2006 Chevrolet Uplander is hesitating and gas mileage seems to be down, could it be the fuel filter? How difficult of a job is it to change it? Where is it located?
Fuel Filter
The fuel filter is part of the fuel tank module. (in the fuel tank)
It's kind of difficult to drop a fuel tank and replace the fuel tank module due to the weight and danger of gasoline catching fire or exploding.
I have constantly had poor fuel mileage on my 2006 Chev Uplander, the dealer says they cannot do anything.
I am looking for what may be the cause for the poor fuel mileage.
I have a the large fuel tank and I am lucky to get 650 Km (400 miles) on a full tank of gas.

The fuel filter is located in the gas tank. It is all one unit filter, pump and housing. To change it you will need to drop the fuel tank. It is about an 1 to 2 hr job. Also you may want to change the upstream sensor as well...

Try this..At the driver's seat open your car door all the way then look at the dashboard end. Pry off the plastic cover...the diagram should also be at the back of the cover.

It's on the driver side frame. It's not hard to install one. Just have to have a special tool to get the line off the filter.

I use 5W30 Mobile 1 synthetic-5 quarts.
The air filter change is a real pain.
Remove driver side tire.
Remove driver side wheel well.
You will see the filter canister in the front of the wheel well.
I had a mechanic do it for me and it took him 1.5 hours. If you plan to do it yourself, be sure you have plenty of time and alot of patience.
